Is gaining skill on Siege much harder then other shards?

Is it much more time consuming? Was thinking of starting all over and trying siege once I get the jist of the game down again. Thanks...

If anything, it's easier. It's definitely not quicker in total time, but you'll spend a lot less in-game time doing the exact same thing hoping for a gain.

Up to 70 skill gain is the same. Are you familiar with RoT? It kicks in after 70. Lemme know if you want a description of RoT.

And if you´re going the crafter route you will save a LOT of ingredients training skills...

I agree with Wulf in part.

Hard skills like taming are much easier here.

You use a LOT less resources here thanks to ROT.

However, you can't get GM skills nearly as quick as on prodo shards.

I disagree with both of you... well only partly.
to 70 is easy I mean really easy.
Then there are still a lot of alacrity scrolls out there and the time to 120 is very easily halved if not better.

Yeah, if anything I'd say it's easier than on prodo shards as when you get above 70 you're guaranteed a gain within the timer settings.

Definitely consumes less resources

It's not hard at all, but it is a little time consuming (after 70) and you'll be unlikely to have scrolls to boost this when you're new....you'll be fine as long as you play while you gain you won't get too fed up.

If you have a lot of gametime just plan the skills you want most and raise those first. (after you get to 70, gains are normal before this) If you don't have a lot of gametime, get all the gains you can in the time you have to play, so you use as many RoT gains as possible for the day.

If you decide to have magery, I'd suggest you don't use any start points on it, it's easy to gain. Use your start points on one of the more tedious skills. Let us know when you're ready and we'll help you out with the basics to get you going.

Hope to see you soon.

Definitely easier here, no matter how you look at it or cut it. Possibly a longer time involved to get to GM/120, but that's it.

Siege skills are: Cheaper, easier, and consistent.

You "COULD" GM faster on prodo, but only if macroing to be honest, GGS is just so inconsistent. I am currently 120ed a swords necro, and it is just terribly slow.

To put it into perspective: I never GMed a tamer in my 12 year UO career, until SP.

Come dive right in here on siege, saves learning about our diffrences from prodo shards. What template do you enjoy playing Ant?

I'd say it's easier building a whole new char under rot because its alot easier to get ALL your dailey points then move on.

I`ve got about a month under my belt here on Siege. At first I hated the thought of RoT between multiple skills....I kept thinking "Its gonna take for freeking EVER to even get my mule done!" but than I topped 70 on a few skills and found it to be much easier. Granted you will take a lil longer to get something GM but its ALOT cheaper and alot less frustrating since you pretty much know when you will get a gain.

Give Siege a try. Its alot more fulfilling than a prodo shard.

Yes would love to know what ROT is and how it works, and how it differs from the system they have on prodo shards. Thanks...

Actually, the ROT info in post #2 by Mechanic

70 to 79.9 you can gain .1 every 5 minutes to a max of 3.6 per day. This 3.6 is TOTAL for all skills in 70.1 to 80 range, not per skill. 3.6 is max.
80 to 98.9 you can gain .1 every 10 minutes to a max of 2.1 per day. This 2.1 is TOTAL for all skills in 80 to 99 range, not per skill. 2.1 is max.
99 to 120 you can gain .1 every 15 minutes to a max of 2.1 per day. This 2.1 is TOTAL for all skills in 100 to 120 range, not per skill. 2.1 is max.
is incorrect.

The ROT info in post #4 by Petra

Skill points for skills less than 70 points will gain as normal shards.
Skill points for skills between 70 and 79.9 points will gain a maximum of 5 points per day with a minimum of 5 minutes between points gained. (250 minutes min to gain 5.0 skill)
Skill points for skills between 80 and 89.9 will gain at a maximum of 4.0 points per day with a minimum of 8 minutes between points gained. (320 minutes min to gain 4.0 skill)
Skill points for skills between 90 and 99.9 will gain at a maximum of 3.0 points per day with a minimum of 12 minutes between points gained. (360 minutes min to gain 3.0 skill points)
Skill points for skills between 100 and 109.9 will gain at a maximum of 3.0 skill points per day with a minimum of 15 minutes between points gained. (450 minutes min to gain 3.0 skill points)
Skill points for skills between 110 and 120 will gain at a maximum of 2.0 skill points per day with a minimum of 15 minutes between points gained. (300 minutes min to gain 2.0 skill points)
Players will be allowed to gain 15 stat points a day.

Is correct.

That thread should be updated. or post #2 amended

*edit* oh, and the chicken post doesn't belong at all...
