Is Chiv/Mage still good?

Hello,

I've been thinking of adding chiv to my pure mage template. I've searched the forums and seen a couple of posts regarding the changes to the 4/6 cap if magery is 70 or over. Is this still the case, or did they change it back? If your cap is reduced to 2/6, is it still worth it to add chiv to a mage?

Thanks,

Sage

The 2/6 cap still applies.
Chiv mages are still competetive. their just not AS good as they would be if they had a 4/6 casting speed.

Thank you for the quick reply. With 2/6 for both chiv and mage, which healing spell would be faster and more effective? Greater Heal or Close Wounds? This char has very high karma already, so I'm hoping Close Wounds will heal at its max. I guess the better question would be which of the two is faster to cast?

They are relatively close but at 2/6 casting you are better off with Mini Heal and Greater Heal.

The only real benefit to chiv mages are the ability to remove curse between the apple timer.

This is going to be a tough decision, then. Thank you both for the great info.

If you decide to keep chivalry on your mage, I would recommend going no higher than 55 (min needed for no-fail remove curse). Otherwise, if you plan on carrying a lot of apples, it can be pretty redundant. I don't remember the last time I used chiv on my chiv tactics mage.

Roll with scrolls and 69.9 magery and you benefit the 4/6 casting. Don't equip any +magery jewels and go above it, otherwise you lose it.

You just gotta restock scrolls a lot if you die =)

Sounds good in practice but this is a major pain. I'd consider it alright if you just go solo and Yew gate fight, but if you do any amount of group fighting, relying on scrolls is a no-no.

Most the people i've seen play it like that, which is like 2, typically only use that character in Yew, sometimes in spawn for PvP support. But that's about it.
