Recently I've been training my paladin and I've noticed that he always seems to get into situations where more than one NPC or monster is attacking him when he's dragged some off to where the rest are a screen away from him.
I've also noticed that he seems to get a lot of trouble from hitting NPC's or monsters which he wasn't originally hitting. He seems to target switch to the newest incoming monster/NPC all the time. This is just from fighting ordinary surface spawn in Trammel, near Trinsic moongate. This target switching behaviour would be okay if he'd actually HIT what went to target him but he seems to stay there passively and not hit on anything that's coming to him while he's on his original attacker, like he's confused or something. He also seems less capable of hitting his original attacker when another attacker starts whacking on him, he seemed to be getting caught up on something as lowly as a sewer rat while other spawn piled damage on him. This means I spend more time running off to heal his hitpoints than fighting, with the usual occasional death due to too many attackers at once.
A few questions I've got:
His weapon speed is 2.75s and dex is 50, should I try to get him a faster weapon or more dex?
Does he need to lure spawn further away in order to fight it 1v1?
Does casting Consecrate Weapon, Divine Fury and EOO as needed (for Chivalry increases) interfere with the normal process of raising swordsmanship skill by the way the chivalry skill interacts with the other skills?
He is a bit low on tactics, only 37 skill compared to 53.9 swordsmanship, is there anything he can do that would raise tactics faster than swordsmanship?
If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it, but I think there's some kind of bug with all of that target switching going on.
Cheers ...
