Is an Archer/Provoker Template Good?

This is my goal
120 Archery - 100 + Hunters Headress
120 Provo
100 Music
100 Tact
100 Anat
90 Chiv

100 Str
110 Dex
45 Int

That leaves me with 110 Points to put elsewhere wasnt sure if i should divide that into resist and focus or maybe another combo. I would like to use this char for Doom/Peerless/Invasion type stuff. Any feedback is appreciated.

Well my main thing I like to look at when choosing a provokers complementary skills is the fact the when two creatures are provoked they are adjacent to one another. There are a few ways in the game where you can attack both of them at the same time. Momentum strike area around caster(AAC) spells(wither,HolyLight,EQ) AOE spells (chain lighting, meteor storm) and whirlwind attacks. Im sure there are more but you get the idea.

The other thing to note here is barding dificuly. There are 2 ways of lowering the BD on any creature. #1 is discord and #2 is curse. Discording is alot more efective and curse will make it easier to discord them.

So maybe taking discord as my last skill would be more effective in helping with the Provo.

Well honestly 120 music is more important. Thats 1st. Every point of music over gm adds a direct chance to success! Its huge! That wont alone leave enough room for 120 discord. Dropping the chive to 60 kinda sux too so If you can find a +5 more skill item that would bring you to 120 provo music discord archery and 65 chive(100% SJ,CW). Youll fail alot more on EoO but to me thats feasible.

Next you still have gm tact/anat. I wouldnt mind droping the anat for resist spells because with chive and a slayer your going to do plenty of damage and you dont have healing so these points are better spent elsewhere. There are other options if you dont get para/mana drained alot and go with bushido instead of anat. It does a little more damage with perfection and crits and you gain the best heal in game(JMO) You can also forgo any HCI on your suit in favor of lightning strike!

If you're going to go with this template I'd suggest you go with Bushido for the remaining points for the extra damage and extra healing, not to mention the HCI from LS.

Here's my temp:

Syrus of Gahd

120.0 Music
120.0 Provoke
120.0 Peace (on soulstone)
120.0 Discord
120.0 Archery (with +20 hunter's)
105.0 Chivalry
90.0 Tactics
55.0 Meditation

Obviously, he's a bard first, then an archer. I chose to add med and higher chiv in place of anatomy, so I do less damage but can heal more reliably and use holy light. *shrug* It's a trade off.

I personally believe that all provoke-templates have exactly one good use.

Doom.

Outside of Doom (and possibly certain peerless, like Shimmering or Paroxy who have side-spawn), there are so many better things to do with your skill points than provoking.

That being said, I have an incomplete character who has the following template:
Music
Discord
Archery
Tactics
Healing
Anatomy
Chivalry

The character is by no means finished, hence the lack of numbers, but it is a great template to use for most situations, and groups will love you for your discord ability.
