Is a "cast bar" addon possible?

In every other MMO I've ever played, there has been a cast bar of some sort or another. Ideally, the cast-bar would stop if you were interrupted and also it would pay attention to how much faster casting you had so it would update the cast times....

It's doable of course, but I don't know how much useful can be... the spells are all casted in up to 2 seconds so you don't have the time to see it :p

Mostly agree with Pinco...But then I also don't think it would be useful to me anyhow, I rely heavily on visual and audio responses to know what is going on, I can't be taking my eyes off my play area to check and see if my spell is ready...or was interrupted....Even less so in pvp. Not a bad idea, just the spells cast very fast and generally doesn't seem like it would help much. :p

Just my opinion though! and would never say not to do something just cause I wont use it lol, if anyone benefits from something, then it should be done (at least in the case of mods...)

I know it would personally help me quite a bit, as I'm always missing when the cursor changes. I'll click early before I have a target cursor, assume the spell is going off, then try to cast another spell only to realize I've messed everything up. A little more visual feedback would do UO's magic system wonders IMO. Things that are taken for granted in modern MMO's such as cool-down tickers over spell icons, spell icons going red when out of range, visual circles for area of effect spells so you can see exactly what you're targeting, and a casting bar letting you know when your cast is interrupted/complete....All of these things would be amazing.

I know I've read somewhere that Pinco looked into doing a visual circle around the character to show the range of certain spells, and he said it was impossible due to him not being able to read the "zoom" setting....But how about the other things mentioned here?

This is doable, but for spells like chivalry will not works, because when fail or will be interrupted there is no message.

For chivalry it's not a huge deal. Mostly just the "magic " users ; magery, necromancey, spellweaving and mysticism IMO.

I don't remind well, but spellweaving use the same chivalry fizzle system...

This could be useful, but not for knowing when to cast spells, there is queuing for that. but if the bar were to retract progress when a spell times out. that could be helpful.

I think a system such as having the spell slowly fill "red" while being cast and then go back to its original color when you fizzle or have cast, with a timer while you are Holding the spell would be best. Of course when the timer ran out the spell would go back to its original color, assuming you have the spell icon on your ui...
