Interested in Seige but...

I have made a toon on Seige. I am very interested in the ruleset of the shard, it seems very fun and well thought out. I have familiarized myself with some of the quirks of the shard, such as the Rate over Time skill gains, the no recall thing, and several other great ideas. (no insurance!)

There is one troubling aspect to the shard that I am finding, and that is the big, "where the hell is everyone?" I would love to give this place a go, but I dont really want to dedicate the time to building my char, if I am going to be the only one running around. I havent seen more than 4 people since I have been building my mage, and thats spread out over 4 or 5 days! I get it that Seige isnt for everyone but it seems like there should be more folks out there than I am seeing.

Am I wasting my time building characters here, and inviting friends to join me? Are we going to be sitting around looking at each other like, "now what?"

The forums seem pretty active and I hope that is a reflection of the shard; perhaps I caught it at bad times?

I felt the same way Blitz it might be the timezone your in. Usually when i get on people are already sleeping. Like you wrote this message 31 ins ago that would be 8:28pm my time. Also if you are interested we do a weekly vVv every Sunday which is 10:30 am my time (UCT -09:00) Also one of my guild members host a PVM event 2 times a month one will be this Saturday check forum for info. As for you logging in say hi in general chat see if anyone is on. People don't hang around banks like on Prodo shards. So your not going to run into them a lot. I do the baracoon a lot by my self and then gathering of rss from dragons ect. Your not going to see the amount of players like on ATL here. Most people can't handle the no insurance, gate, or faction artis.

Welcome to Siege. Who Dat is right. Also being in a guild may help. You can see info about my guild The DarkOutlaws, TDO* in my signature, same guild Who Dat is in.
When you do find some players you like to hang out with, you may want to check out what guild they are in.
Also use Gen Chat, that's where we hang out, we don't always tell where on the shard we can be found, that that could mean we would earn a death robe, at a time, where we was not looking for a fight

if nobody answers in general chat that doesn't necessarily mean nobody is playing. most people, especially when out on a hunt, won't answer there as to not give away their presence or location to discourage PKs. With the huge landmass we have nowadays it is also hard to run into people if they avoid the hotspots like despise. Furthermore people don't hang out at banks because of thieves. It's probably best to either join a guild or get a couple of people to make your own guild and recruit a couple of people. That way you always have someone to do stuff with.

I'm often on but I rarely watch the GC scrolling by, I'm usually out hunting preoccupied trying not to be somethings lunch.

My two characters carry the LBSS guild banner and are not the homicidal type. More inclined to help instead of harm, and are on at various hours during the day. Say hi by a more friendly action than a sword in the ribs and we can hunt together.

lol nice! When I made my characters way back when, I named alot of them after some of my songs I would jam to. So this char's name is more a tribute to Metallica than the WWII.

Well, overall this is encouraging. I forgot about thieves! People still do that? lol. Makes sense as to why the banks arent very crowded. I am training my guy up, wont take too long. Thanks everyone for the feedback, hope to see yall soon.

We look forward to see where you fit. You can always start out in TDO* as we accept players new to Siege to help them get started. After a month or two, you can decide if TDO* is the right guild for you.

I dont want to be a party pooper, but this kind of warfare was not funny, not at all. And it brought death and misery to millions and millions of people. Just saying...

But I also know that the term refers to metal and punk rock music, which I love - so I am all fine. I just wanted to point out that a Blitzkrieger might not be the best fit for a virtuous guild

Welcome to Siege, overall we are a good bunch of folks that sometime will bite Depends on the moods they are in. Take Freja for example, she has a Bow that will drop you in two shots easy, and if its VvV expect to dirt nap a lot. There is a agreement that we all hold to for the VvV, (No Looting). Of course this rule is only for the weekly VvV, so expect to be looted if killed. Siege bless that one item you don't wish to lose. Only the , will dry loot anyone (I was being nice) We sometimes have those visitors that think they have to take everything, including tools of the trade if they catch a miner or lumberjacker out alone. Be nice never dry loot if you are that type of player, dry looters get a name here quickly and its not a good one. Again welcome to Siege I hope its good for you.

Hey I know some nice Arrr and other Pirates, who won't dry loot and even I may dry loot, if you make me so mad, that I want to slam the door in your face and yell at you, but it is years since that last did happen. The guy I killed and ressed without looting called me a nasty female word so he got what he deserved

Some do get dry looted because of a bad choice of char name or guild.

Read what Max said, and make your own guild. We need more guilds, we don't need 2 inflated guilds.

Freja is a vampire, all she wanted was your blood to keep her body young and sexy, she hate looking like an old slow mumie
Because it is outside the Sundays event, it do not mean all are going to loot you. Some may look if there should be nice items on your body. Sure the name of that char could make some less nice but unless you also act that way, I doubt it would be enough to get you dry looted in a VvV battle. I did not even look at your body, even when I had no idea it was you. A VvV tag was the last thing I expected to see over the head of one of your chars. That was a nice surprise

Probably the last thing you would expect is me to attack you as well Been wanting to try the VvV and wondered if a old pre AOS template would still be any good. It isn't That bow of yours is brutal. Since Sunday I have been using Tyreth my thief to practice sigil stealing and taking alters when no one else is around. Thinking about trying to cram ninja fencing and tactics in that template. Right now it is 120 Stealing, 100 hiding, 120 stealth, 100 snooping, 110 mage 100 detect hidden and 70 med. For VVV I could drop snooping, mage, and med and put on 120 fencing 120 tactics 40 ninja (70 with jewels) Leaves me weak in the healing department but I might be able to get a hit or two in before I die

To kill anything, you need to stay alive, you can't kill if dead, but a thief will have very hard with killing anything.
Maybe focus on Sigels and Alters. If you can stop the other side from getting any alters, it's a half won town and the other Sigel runners may be easier to kill than the ones fighting for the alters. If you can stop other Sigel runners from turning in the Sigels, it help your side too.
