Insurance and Bless did not work during Sacred Journey

I died the last week but was in the middle of casting Sacred Journey when I actually went to zero health. On my ghost was nothing. Absolutely empty ghost. I got rezzed and everything was on my body (well except for the bag of water pitchers the Demon took). I checked and all my armor was insured or blessed. I thought this was odd.

Later I died to a room full of terathons (my son tends to get me killed a lot :) ) Everything that was insured or blessed went with my ghost.

Again the other day I died while casting Sacred Journey (sometimes it is all you can do). Again I died while actually casting, and from the sound I thought I made it away. On my ghost was nothing. It was all on my body.

This was all on the same character. I've went out and let myself get killed a lot, trying to recreate it, but can't get the recall at just the right time I guess to make it happen. (My poor paladin lost tons of fame by now, and the harpies all laugh at him.)

Anyone else ever had this happen? When it was once I figured it was an odd glitch. But twice seemed too add.

yep.. it happens.

Sucks when it's during pvp and you lose your suit to a guild that doesn't return things..

Might be best to post as a bug report, or in the ask the devs section.

It sounds like there is a possible coding error when it comes to the middle of that "jump" since your char is loading in a new area it might be removing all the items from you so when you die they are...in limbo and since "you" don't make the jump, the items stay with your body (since being dead you don't have a body). Just the way it sounds to me, not like I have code to look at to actually debug so yea, report it.

Its a very old problem that *some people* will come in and try to convince you that it was somehow your fault.

Ive had it happen.

I'm going to guess it's related to your ghost not being in the same area as your corpse at the specific moment stuff is supposed to drop. Same thing happens if you try to rez through sacrifice. If you are too far from your body, or if you step outside a dungeon before trying to rez, it will warn you that your body cannot be found. I believe the undertaker's staff has the same limitation.

.. couldn't this point to the cause of the entire "insurance bug" being a problem in the game's handling of death? That is.. possibly in some incredibly rare situations the player character dying and being remade by the system is counted as a miniature recall of sorts and timed just perfectly to happen as the character dies but before the items are moved to the ghost, and as a result items are dropped to the corpse (I.E. while the character's status is in limbo it is 'moved' and recreated, causing it to lose recognition of ownership of the items)?

It would explain why items are always still insured afterwards, too.. if this were how things are handled, the items lose their insurance tag (and are reinsured) at the moment of being transferred to the ghost. It would even explain why blessed items drop sometimes as well, as that check would be made at that same instant in time. It all just happens fast enough (thanks to being calculated by a computer) that no person would visually be able to notice such a thing happening as any different than any other death.

If a dev is watching, please look into this with everything you have. It could finally mean a fix to the bug.
