We will never see this becaause....
1. Eliminates the need for large housing communities and the need for so many cities
2. Subsequently, destroy the housing prices at Luna(and elsewhere) and the income of those housing owners as venders go to more remote houses
3. I'm sure EA is getting some sort of kickbacks from the off site purchases.
The UO development team has this fantasy vision in the way this game is played. They think that we log on and run around in parties of 20, playing hours on end, dungeon crawling and big PVP battles etc. So all the changes we get seem to support that vision forcing community interaction. Why have Champion Spawns with PVP...to force larger parties, why make Bosses more challenging....to force larger parties, why have Luna and merchant collections...to bring people together. Now in 97 that was pretty close, unfortunately the majority of players now, played back then and now have jobs, kids, life stresses , and so on. Now my longest stretch of playing now is maybe 3hrs once a week (with 2 other people) and the rest of the time is an hour here or there by myself, so anything tat makes my gameplay easier, I'm onboard. I would rather spend my few hours a week doing something else besides clicking venders, in fact I only use the outside vender search and if it does not show up...I go without.
EA is protecting (in their minds) the essence of the game by not having any changes that promotes individual gameplay. I think they should have a poll on how we play, then focus their changes along the line of the results. And if the community spends the majority of their online time running around in parties of 15-20 battling other guilds/PK raiders of 15-20, I'm onboard with keeping the status quo...but if the majority gameplay is in parties of 3-5, there needs to be a paradigm shift in EA's thinking towards this game....Crap I went off on a rant....sorry....
