Imbuing vs. Enhancing

Though I haven't yet upgraded, it is my understanding that a failed imbue attempt does not destroy the item.

If so, what would you say to changing enhancing so that it follows the same rules?

I do not enhance because of the chance to break and I wouldn't use Imbuing probably either if there was a high chance to break like enhancing. I am not using that as a threat, I would just continue to use runic/looted items.

i mean why is there a restriction not being able to imbue special materials when you can add it after imbuing without risk?


it would be better to make enhacing unbreakable becasue its a weak feature now compared to imbue and to make imbuing breakable after 3 properties added or so

There is. You cannot use Powder of Fortification on it. You can only repair the item. Meaning eventually...the item will disappear. That is information take from the Mythic webpage.

Enhancing you are NOT guaranteed to break the item. Just the chance is "likely" that you will not succeed.

I say it's a good idea. I mean, you can't do anything about the damage type with imbuing (and you need the 4 properties that you have left after DI anyway), so your only options for changing it are:

A. starting with an item with the damage type you need (does this count as a property? crappy if it does)
B. Enhancing with a very high chance of breaking


Also, this is only talking about metal weapons.

The chance of breaking is extremly high. If they would bring it down to 50% then that be better but as it stands 80% of enhanced items depending on the horrible RNG break.

Personally I think a probability percentage would be good. I agree it should not be VERY high but it should not be a flat percentage like 50%.

In Lineage II you can enhance something to a degree without failure. Once you go past a certain percentage, you start having risk. The higher and better you try to enhance it, the greater the risk of the item breaking.

A similar system would be of value in UO. If you chance the system you can perhaps reap the rewards for making sure a rare item, or lose out because your item breaks after trying to get a very rare item.

If you took half the durability away on each try and not be able to bring it back up on imbued,,, then there could be a compromise.
