Imbuing tip

Im in the 70's on imbuing and I was following the guide to imbue as close to %50 success as possible.

So im doing daggers hit dispel, I start doing the max 1 and 1 ingredients %8 hit dispel and im in the %80 success area. So I do a little test against %50 and 2 and 4 ingredients to see which gets better gains for the total ingredients used

150 residue 300 amber %24 hit dispel 2 residue 4 amber .7 total gains.

150 residue 150 amber %8 hit dispel 1 reside 1 amber 1.0 total gains

so maxing % will result in probally better total gains and less ingredients used.

Obviously I will still have to switch to 1 residue 2 amber soon but I would max each level before moving up.

You should be using small plate jingasas. They've got a higher base weight, so you use fewer ingredients while working it. Start with RPD, then once you reach 13, add 1 LRC up to 18, then add luck 1 point at a time until you hit 120.

So you agree with me about maxing instead of %50??

Thanks for the suggestion.

I disagree.

If you want to use fewer resources, first imbue with one property at the max while just using one residue, then imbue the same item with another property using only one residue with the success chance in the range of 50% - 60%.

For example, I am about 66 skill. I first imbue a GM dagger with 19% luck, max using only one magic residue and one citrine. Next, imbue with 6% hit dispel, using only one magic residue and one amber (I think it's amber). This puts you in the mid-50% success range for the second property. Re-imbue until you hit the ten max imbuing, then unravel.

I think that's what Connor is saying.

imbue loot you get if the loot is to hard for you throw it in a chest till you are higher level then go back through it! if the loot is to easy unravel it !
I am at 105 and this is the cheapest method I have found and I get good gains!
it takes me max 10 residue per item I then get usualy 2 back so 8 residue for 10 skill checks the only down side is sorting the loot but once you get good at recognising how much mods a item has it goes pretty fast

I use Dull Copper hammers and make 50 exceptional iron daggers. I then imbue the daggers 10 times with 1-19 points of luck depending on the property intensities on the individual runic dagger.

I got stuck at 109 on a Garg. Imbuer, that was his total skill points too. Striped one of my lesser Human Mules and put the 109 on a human, they have a lower success rate so you just imbue at a lesser level and OMG I at 114 in 2 days (2-3 hrs a day) and used a lot less resources. I try to stick to 62-65 %. I will stone the 120 back to the Garg for the bonus to imbuing.

It's been said that one gets the best gains when the success rate is between 60% - 80%. Now I would reckon that peeps are aiming for the 50% success rate to maybe burn less ingreds overall since one can gain from failures as well and burn only half the ingreds or whatnot.

WRONG. You cannot gain from failures.

The best gains are like every other skill, in the 40-60% range. Can you gain outside that range? Sure. But you will not gain as often.

If you are using the imbue once and then unravel method, then using a higher range will cut your losses on imbuing ingredients at the expense of materials used to create the item. This is the way to go with monster loot that you didn't use materials on in the first place.

If you are trying to raise the skill as fast as possible then you will be creating your own items from the cheapest materials and imbuing with the cheapest ingredients 10 times per item and get very little back in resources. This is the power game method and you will want to stay to the lower end of the range for the fastest gains.

Most people once they hit GM level will see the rapid decline in their resources and start settling in for a level around 55% success.

It ain't rocket science folks and you don't need a PHD.

ugh.... so for each item I need to go through the list of properties 1 by 1.. oh my poor aching hand!

I didn't see the warm up exercises for finger/wrist dexterity listed on the packaging, right next to the system requirments! Where's my lawyer!
