imbuing: how are you profiting?

good day,

in light of the other discussion i wanted to get a feel for how many of you are making good gold off being an imbuer.

i have imbued many a suit, jewelry or weapon for guild mates but i rarely charge for anything other than the cost of the items used if i'm providing them. if the guild mate has provided all thats necessary i will do it for free.

but i'm wondering how many are making suits / armor for sale?

i often thought about making a kick azz mage suit and putting it on a vendor but never had done so.

discuss.

I am profiting from Imbuing by not having to give scripters and dupers millions of gold for their ill gotten gains.

I've made a nice little sum making custom pieces and helping people with their suits. I charge for the ingredients and then tack a percentage on to that.

Initially I made boatloads of gold from selling jewelry and weapons. I then expanded into armor pieces, but that was done mostly for friends and guildmates. I no longer sell many items, as I'm not currently running a vendor nor do I plan to anytime soon. At this juncture I simply get into the game to enjoy the fun and utilize my uber sweet armor/weapons that my crafters have made.

I'm selling 100% LRC all 70's Resists armor sets for 75,000 gold each in Male, Female, Elven, and Gargoyle versions. They sell off & on normally but have sold out quickly at times when someone in a group of spellslingers spots them. The price is about 50-60% above materials cost. It takes a bit of time to do all the resist boosting.

Got to say I have made quite the profit from imbuing.. selling many suits in the 4 to 6 mill range depening on total mods. I sell a lot of high end jewls (SSI, HPI, MR) some of those go upwards of 25 mill. I also make good prfit from DCI Weps and Sampire weapons. Those run anywhere from 5 to 10 mill.

I make items on request. I don't have a vendor. I keep my eye open on General chat when people looking for a imbuer. I'm always payed well for my services. :)

For new and returning players i make the 100% LRC suit for free to start there training wwith.

I would have vendors stocked but for the POF factor. If not for my crusty smith and miner my imbuer would be doing squat. The imbuing of rings and braclets looted with the costly mods is the main profit.

I have a feeling most are like me. Limited on game time and apt to want to do things for themselves. At the rate I'm going I wont need to buy a booster for the extra workload for years. The T hunting buff is a great break from the crafting grind.

Want to do us a favor? Have Dull Copper Eli spawn off goyle picks. Have DC Eli with 25 ore spawned or pick dug. If you look at the rewards for all Dull BODs, none are impressive but the 10x-15x chain dull larges. And I have more bronze hammers then I could ever mine up a certain gem for, LOL.

I sell PVP weapons on my vendor, but the main bulk of my profit - possibly getting into the hundreds of millions - has been from filling custom orders for people. I price reasonably with a small profit for myself added to the cost of the ingredients, but word of mouth keeps me in orders so it all adds up :)

I remmeber when those sold for 5-8mil. Times are changing...Oh well keeps the rich rich if they only need to spend 75k on them. I would think that type of work and specialty is worth much more. I would spend at least 500k on one.

Not making anything for sale, so not profiting in that sense - but I'm able to equip all my characters pretty much as I want without spending a fortune, and many hours, finding the right equipment on vendors, or taking lots of time hunting and hoping for the right item to drop off a monster.

I commission an imbuer to make parts.

I doubt an imbuer could make money by making random parts then sticking them on a vendor.

ive run into imbuers who were totall incompetant and didnt know how to squeeze the max out of an item

ive run into ones who were just rip off, charging tons of money. before i knew better, someone charged me 1 mil to add 7 LMC to 2 jewels.

its hard to find an imbuer with time to help, at the same time you are available

so... i just made my own

haven't really "profited" from it by selling anything, but i've profited in that i havent been ripped off, ive been able to make items i wanted EXACTLY the way i wanted when i wanted, and ive been able to help out some new friends by making them newbie suits to get them started.

i dont have much interest in becoming an imbuer for profit. i might make newbie suits. or nice weaps. thats about it.

You are aware that the eight relic frags that were required to add those two mods alone could cost between 400k and 800k depending on when they were purchased, and what shard they were purchased on? And that's assuming it was the first or second mod on the jewels with no chance of failure.

1 mil might not have been as unreasonable as you seem to think it was... :)

llewen, i wouldnt have mentioned it if it wasnt true at the time. you can tell the difference between the ripoff artists and the good ones. if you can't, good luck with that buddy

Not picking a fight here, that price just didn't seem all that unreasonable given what I know of prices on my shard.

Imbuing has allowed me to create some really good templates. I make most of my own suits and do work for my guild mates. I don't sell anything, but I do buy resources from alot of different people, so at least they're profiting.
