Imbuing for PvM vs PvP. Balance? Wah? Disposable weapon.

Ive played long enough. Let me keep this short.

1st you had GM armour and weapons and vanquishings. We adapted to best fit and balanced occured.

Then you had AOS and items and we adapted to best fit and balance occured.

Then we had Soul stones and all that and soup dejour templates and best fit and balanced occured.

Now we have imbuing and you know what I LIKE it but what is the point.
What ever happens we adapt and balance occurs.

To me it seems like more work to end up where... thats right just at the begining of UO with GM everything and a vanquishing. NOTHING CHANGED. Really think about it. We have to do more to get to the same end.

BRING IN CREATIVE FUN.




MY QUESTION TO YOU ALL what the heck is the difference in game play PVP or PVM in the 4 above points. Balance always occurs.


I wondering if the DEVS could do something like this to make imbuing MORE FUN.

For Montsers only... could we hammer an imbue stamp that says Creatures Only. They WONT work on PVP. They would have 25 durabilty. They wouldnt have caps. You could chain together 3 hit spells or create crazy maximiums. Something fun. Something in this idea. Maybe just maybe fun stuff. Maybe a stone relic is needed to create a monster bashing weapon and away we can imbue. Think out of the box. Creative. It would be monster specific and short lived.

Anyway. Thoughts along those lines, my idea is an example.

Ya think they could give us castle-level storage limits on every house when they do this?

Stop complaining trammy. Not everything is comparable to a trip to Toys R' Us.

Think about the hoop jumping we go through to end up exactly where we were with GM stuff.

Part of the issue is balance never really did occur once they started tinkering with the works. Once they added special strikes, and bonus damage for LJ and all that other mess things got all screwy, it's never recovered since. Imbuing can help with this, you can easily make a really decent suit now without paying outrageous sums of Gold, or sorting through thousands of BODS, if you have an imbuer, this still won't bring real balance back into the game. There's only one way they'll be able to really balance PVP...

  • 1. Get rid of all "Magic" equipment
  • 2. Get rid of all Special Attacks
  • 3. Cap Pet Damage at = to max weapon damage
  • 4. Put a Brutal Stop to Speedhacks and Scripts
  • 5. Get rid of all mods from interdependent skills.

Let me explain, Magic equipment means players can custom tailor and create Hybrid templates, there's too much variety to account for. Think of all the Mods you get by combining Skill X with Skill Y etc. Bushido is a prime example, you get X bonus to parry from using a 1 handed weapon, Y bonus from using a 2 handed weapon, you get Z penalty from using a Shield...
Weapon X has Y% of this Hit spell and Z% chance for HLA or HLD...it's turned UO into a Algebra class. They've forgotten the KISS method you know Keep It Simple Stupid. Get rid of special strikes, leave Magic to the Mages...

Ok now we all got the same quality of Gear, crafter made non-runic...no perks from hybrid templates..lets look at pets, if they had the same damage output as a player..then killing the tamer would be an easier task....rendering the tamer useless. At worse it's like getting ganked which we all hate, but 2vs1 doing normal damage is better than 2vs1 doing 70hp Fire Breath, 45 HP claws, and mana Dumping.


Kill off Cheats, yea when ever this is a big discussion someone always says "They can't help in PvP" well my question is if they are so certain that they can't, how did they verify this? Plain and simple, those arguing this point are probably the people using it as a crutch. Speed Hacks we all know those are hurting PvP, Scripts yea, Like someone can really pop off a cure before their life bar ever turns green every single time, or be obviously afk healing as a guild member pounds them in Luna Bank..Quit assuming we're stupid ok! How about this, have the client verify the integrity of map files when the client starts even if it's checking for a mod date and insuring it matches the latest Official Mod to them...If not Patch the proper maps back in...Wow no more Stump Hack...

After that only differences will be ping times and nothing can really be done about that..

Your right. That is my point. High complexity to get back to simplicity... which is essentially where we began.

Being a well breed trammie and highly educated... it would be fun to allow imbuing to do more the bring back balance for PvM. Though Im not convinced it will bring back balance in the sense you can create any type of characture and imbue to match balance other templates.

I think you going to have the good ole set of characture skills and set of imbued properties. No diversity in PvP.

So PvM let us do at bit more with imbuing.
