Imbuing almost as easy as Magic Resist!

Wow, just hit 120 imbuing, and i gotta say its the easiest skill ive ever raised.

Im immediately reminded of parrying, and melee skill GMing in Jhelom pits in the matter of hours.

Magic Resist on Spellbinders in NewHaven.

As powerful as this skill is I am just baffled at how easy it has been to 120 it.

I cant believe i waited this long to do this skill. Granted its expensive, and I soulstoned everything but tailoring, arms lore, smithing and tinkering( only at 68) but still good lord i feel like a kid in a candy store.

Now to get down to farming essence....

the speed at which you gain.

It was easier for me to 120 Imbuing than any fighting skill ive done in the last year.

Even at high skill (115+) the gains came at a high enough rate for me to keep at it. Usually i will sit down on a weekend and say ok im going to do THIS or THIS. Usually it doesnt happen because the gains are so few and far between I get bored and say ok next weekend. Imbuing...not so much, went from 40-120 started friday morning, and have done about 6-8 hrs of actual gaming friday and saturday. Maybe 10 today.

It was ridiculously easy, and it seemed the gain rates as you rose in skill didnt increase all that much(time between gains)

All skills should be as challenging to raise as focus.

Do you pay to have fun, or to grind?

you make a good point atlantean.

Fun is a varying condition though depending on who you ask.

I mainly play for merchanting. And though of course I am greatly happy at how fast I was able to raise Imbuing, im also torn because if its that easy for me lord knows its that easy for everyone else, if not faster. Which means thats not going to be my ticket to having vendors that just hold gold LOL.

But good point nonetheless

The fun part is the journey there not the goal. Thats what test center is for.

Yeah I thought it was fairly easy to gain and I did it before the made it even easier, but at the same time it took either a lot of resources or a lot of time finding the right pieces to imbue or now unravel.

So I guess its balanced. Cost for gain, and time spent for gain its about right. Maybe put it back to say 15 imbues per piece instead of the raised 20. Ah well just enjoy it and stop trying to get it nerfed cause you made it to 120.

Imbuing gains steadily through concentrated practice. But I disagree that it is a cake walk simply because you need to prepare before starting (or take breaks while) training to acquire resources. If you have the gold then you can simply do some wise purchasing and start training. If not, then you need to do some prep work. You need to stack up on residue and obtain 500 essence for 10 x 115 Imbuing PS (to merge into a 120 ps). You also can get some great gains between 50-70 (or higher) just unravelling monster loot you collect. This takes a bit of time as well, but is all part of the process of building your artificer. And finally, IMO, your artificer is not complete until he/she can use the Queen's forge. This isn't too hard (thanks to soulstones), but requires a little more time/effort actually killing things in SA. I like Toxic Sliths just east of Ter Mur.

All in all, I think the devs now have imbuing about right in terms of the time and effort required to train. The grind vs adventuring aspect for imbuing is better than many other skills. I'm working on my second artificer on my secondary shard right now. Just got Queen's forge access (did this first), and now I'm unravelling my way from 50-70 and stocking up on residue, essence and gold. When I get 500 essence (for that 120 scroll), I'll scroll up and then convert my acquired gold into gems and start actively training. The limiting factor will be residue at that point and I'll have to keep manufacturing it with crafting skills and special materials. I use my smith with dull copper ingots to make dc daggers which unravel (6 dc ingots = 2 exceptional dc daggers = approx 5 residue after unravel).

Is there a guide posted some where?
Yes. Look through this thread in the Craftsman's "Data Chest" sub-forum: http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=157702. Do remember most of the thread was pre-pub 63. Now the technique is the same, but the resource cost is less. You can modify this to fit your need. I found that I gained best as a human using a home soulforge with the success chance at 65%. Post-120, I got a second 120 scroll and moved the skill to my gargoyle and got my garg artificer access to the Queen's forge. But that was just my experience on my primary shard and first go at training this skill. Like I said, I'm training my second now and doing it slightly differently. There is also lots of discussion on imbuing in the Craftsman forum.

I GMed Tinkering in 2 days; Imbuing took far longer and cost a hell of a lot more to do so. And I'm pretty sure it isn't nearly as easy as Resisting Spells which took my all of a few hours to get to 115 (No 120 PS :cursing:). Lets leave it as is because it's still not all that easy and I disagree that everyone is going to have one just for the simple fact that it is expensive; gold wise and time wise. Every crafting skill I trained went much faster and cost much less.

10 mil gold and over 20 hours of manual labor.

...slightly harder than going afk in a sheep pen for 5 hours
or on a boat for the same amount of time(resist).
