They say writing is cathartic.

I started my UO journey on Catskills over 12 years ago. At that time, I was newly married with no kids. Today, I'm on wife #2 and have two beautiful children and a lot more gray hair. When I think back on all that has happened between now and then it's not just real life that I have fond memories of.

UO, and in particular Catskills, has been a HUGE part of my life. Maybe that's why it's so hard to say goodbye to the shard where I placed my first house (a small house on the northernmost tip of Skara in Felucca), got pk'd for the first time, GM'd my first mage, made my first Lord (back when that MEANT something), and made (and lost) so many friends.

Somewhere along the way, I lost some of the love I had for UO. I think it started with Trammel, insurance, and the revamp of the skills system that made skills mean less and items mean more. It's all become a little too "Monty Hall" for me. So, I stopped playing UO religiously and became more of a casual player. Then, about a year ago I decided I could do without UO. I was ready to quit. Then, someone showed me Siege. I've not been back to Catskills to play since.

This is not mean to be a UO prodo-shard bashing post or a "Siege is the best" post either. It's merely me saying goodbye to a shard that has been a major part of who I am for nearly 1/3 of my life. It's me saying goodbye to an old friend while desperately trying to hold on to that UO feeling by saying hello to a new one.

Farewell to those I've adventured with both present and past. I wish you all the best in game and out. Once my houses packed with memories have been sold down, I find it hard to believe the characters I've put so much time and effort into will ever roam the lands of Catskills again.

Oh, in light of the above post...does anyone have a Luna vend house where I could rent a vendor for a while?

nope sorry... we all agreed on sanctioning your sales and keeping you on Catskills.
It is a big ploy but well worth it.

Jokes aside... I hope you are loving Siege... please, please teach us how to play the werewolf event!

Safe travels Brother.

Aang, sorry to hear you're leaving Cats, but at least you're only going so far as Siege.
Contact Anne Nomilly, I'm betting she would be willing to fix you up with a spot at her Luna house. I don't get as much traffic as Luna, but you're more than welcome to a vendor at my place if you'd like.

I have always felt that Catskills has a great community. It is sad when someone who makes that community happen moves on. I wish you the best of luck on Siege, I see the draw and have developed characters there myself. If you ever want to come back and visit the doors are always open to good players.

Thanks for the vendor Anne. I have it loaded up with the first group of things to be sold. I'll see you on the field

Aang... "old" friend. I am trying to wiggle UO time back into my little life as well. I also have found my way to Seige. It does have a bit more of a community feel to it. Though I have to admit that I have at least one avatar on every single shard. Catskills and Seige are my most played though. I have a house both on Catskills and Seige. If I can be of some assistance to you over on Seige, send me a pm and I'll see what I can do.

There was a day when I would pour hours, and hours into UO. I do miss that. A lot really. So, so many friends I've made. I've introduced people to Ultima Online and they grew to know more about the game than I did. I've gamed with people that have died in RL, but are never forgotten.

I hope you stick around Aang. Whatever the shard you choose to exist on. I feel you greatly improve the enjoyability of the game.

Oh... On Seige my avatar is: Robert. Hope to see you around pal.

Thank you sir. I've been on Siege for about a year now actually. Doing quite well. The starting over alone is almost worth the change of shards. Quite fun starting from scratch and getting to place your "first" house again. Anyway, I am Saint Dismas and Legion on Siege. Keep an eye out for me :gee:
