I don't begrudge those who are leaving, though their expertise will be missed *coughs* Link. However this post is a great idea, well done Myphsar. I too am here to stay until they unplug the last server and delete all of my pixels.

Either am I. Never had to complain about the game becoming item based or the need for a crusty Classic Shard.

To the leaving threads. Make sure to delete all the characters before turning off the auto renew payment option. And don't let the door .....................

I have played since Beta. I have put up with crap that I never thought I would. And I didn't quit.

I almost did...over the fact that we had absolutely no choice in how we played the game, prior to Trammel. However, right about then they introduced Trammel, which helped my wife and myself to stay and play. And here we have been for the last 14+ years.

I have not had the time to devote to the game lately due to a new hobby (drums...they are demanding if a person wants to be even OK in my book), but I keep all three of my accounts open, and will do so for the foreseeable future!

Thanks for giving us fourteen years, UO, as challenging and sometimes downright even Unfun it has been, the good has always outweighed the crap for me, and so...I am NOT quitting either!!

;)

To my new friends on Great Lakes in the RP community and in GOF (I know most of you read these boards!), I'm still very much here; but with Legend of Grimrock and Avernum: Escape from the Pit recently released, you might say I'm distracted at the moment! Don't look at me like that! I'm supporting my friendly neighborhood indie developers!

I am setting up a newly purchased computer that I got largely to play UO. I am planning on not just staying but opening up more accounts and doing things on other shards. I have even crossed the line and am finishing patching the EC. Your not getting rid of me folks :gee:

I'm one of the newcomers. I tried UO for the first time 4 months and fell in love. A beautiful game. It has some quirks here and there and some parts that doesn't fit in/feel right. Nothing's perfect, I love you UO. Was that cheezy enough? Haha.. :))

Just thought i would say i am enjoying playing UO and still have fun with old/new friends, ;)
*logs in*
I am here until the end. Some months 24/7 other months once in awhile but its all good and fun.

To me it is very simple. If you have the attitude that you are going to stay to the end things will always tend to look brighter then if your attitude is to plan on quitting every new patch or tweak or whatever.

You can flutter around all over the place being miserable or you can stand put and have a great time.

I have been around way to long to leave now.

I have enjoyed Ultima since Ultima 1.

Despite the silly drama I enjoy the various communities a ton. Great people all over this game.

Thanks Everyone!

Well, hate to tell you this but all these changes with the decay has pissed me off, lost all my Honor on my Tamer and I am still not leaving.See you in the game.
Second that....

ALL TYPES OF DECAY NEED TO BE DONE AWAY WITH! Nothing pisses me off more in the game than decay except for the ****ty graphics. Decay is not going to keep Veteran players around longer. Veterans play because they love the game not because they enjoy rebuilding up the same points (faction,virtue,loyalty,Fame/Karma) over and over again. It has the opposite affect if any.

What harm is done by removing decay at this juncture and evolution in UO? Absolutely none...

Thank you for the original post and the following responses. You have helped me keep the faith.

I was about to leave for good in the last couple of weeks. The item of greatest value to me in this game, the one irreplaceable thing I own, my guildstone had disappeared without any reason. I had placed it into my bank for temporary safekeeping and next I looked, it had simply gone - I searched everything, everywhere, but it's not there. The 'Stone Ghost' was the very heart of the role-playing guild of the Golden Horde and since almost all the players have now left for new horizons, it seemed that the guildstone's loss was itself the final omen - time to spread Haruchai's ashes upon the wind and leave. A history stretching back to Spiritwood before the Cataclysm and the inheritance from the Oymak Batachikan clan was lost in some impenetrable bug or catastrophic mistake by me.

The loss of a small bit of virtual property should not matter as much as it does, but the memories and friends that stone represented most certainly do matter. Yet when I finally logged in again to drop the tents scattering Mongol lands, I found too many memories still. There are still legends to be written, events to be planned and friendships anew to be forged.

Even the simple pleasures of the game are enticing. (Does anyone else find the monotonous crunch, crunch of mining to be a great stress reliever after a busy day? :) )

The posts here remind me that this game is all about what one can contribute as well as what the game design offers. Times such as the defence of Trinsic alongside the great armoured Han knights, fighting the great Plague of Yew shoulder to shoulder with the Guardsmen even as they sneered at us 'outsiders', scything with the Bloodguard through the lizardmen pouring into Britain, these songs must be sung to the young - and new triumphs added for campfires yet to be lit.

The loss of the Stone Ghost is grievous but turning away from eleven years of memories would be more so.

I came because I heard Mirt was giving free likes.

Also, my accounts are still auto-billing.
And I am too! I think every now and then when folks are getting down its good to see how many of us there still are. That are still having fun and looking forward to more. This thread came at a perfect time when the negativitiy and folks posting about quitting was coming to a head. Its amazing to see how many of us plan on staying until they turn the lights out. Now if I could just get all my friends to post too so we can see just how many silent stayers there are.

Ok. This looks like a good place to ask this. I absolutely loved Ultima back in the day, but quit about a year after Trammel was introduced. I will spare you the details of why as I am sure you have heard it thousands of times at this point. Here is my question:

I used to absolutely love playing my thief on Pacific. It was absolutely the most fun I have had playing a game period. Then came Tram and blessed items etc and it seemed as if those days were gone forever. My second favorite char was my PVP'er who went back and forth being a Red. I really enjoyed PVP and also going on dungeon crawls with friends and staking out decaying houses.

That being said I really want to come back and have the fun I used to have. Is this possible? Is a thief a viable char these days? Are there people to steal from or any items worth stealing?

Thanks for your input guys. You seem like the diehards of the game and I figured you would be a good group to ask.

Thx!
