Illegal or not?

Yes, Wolfie - those are illegal and were obtained by exploit.

QUESTION
How can I tell if an item is not allowed?

Answer
In the long history of Ultima Online, there have been times when certain items were able to enter the game world due to the result of a bug or exploit. In the past we have been hesitant to post a list of such items, for some unscrupulous players might see such a list and decide to attempt to recreate such illegal items. However, in recognition of player concerns with regard to the growing inability to discern the differences between these illegal exploit/bug items and legitimate & acceptable rare items, we now feel that there are certain exploit-based items that can be publicly listed and discussed in an open forum.

The items listed below were created or obtained through the use of an exploit or bug, and are not able to be obtained or acquired through any legitimate means. They are prohibited within Ultima Online, and players who are found to have, use, trade, or sell them may have action taken against their account.

These items are listed because they continue to exist in the world even though they are not re-creatable, but please do not consider these listed items the only ones that are unacceptable within UO. Just because an item may not be on this list does not necessarily mean it is allowed. We reserve the right to change and update this list at any time.

  • Portable forges, looms, spinning wheels, or other obviously not portable add-ons
  • Water or grass tiles
  • Silver steeds (except for Siege Perilous, and Mugen)
  • Tame ancient wyrms
  • Neon sandals (not BOD reward or AoS gift sandals)
  • Khaldun puzzle box
  • Chyloth's Shroud (red death shroud) and/or Staff.
  • Portable Mouseholes
It is critical for all players to understand the following information about this list of exploit-created items:
  • There are exploit-created items within the world that are not on this list, but just because items are not on this list, does not necessarily mean they are allowed.
  • We reserve the right to change this list at any time.
  • This list will only note items that were created with bugs or exploit that can no longer be created.
  • Game Masters will not discuss the legality of an item. The Development team reserves the right to remove any item from the game.
  • The purchase, sale, and ownership of these items are at your own risk.

well that answer my question, thanks

Dudes. These are from the dog dupe from a few years ago, whenever that was.

Surprised you guys haven't figured that one out by now. :lick:

What was done, sandals had the AOS name on them originally, were duped, lost any words except "Sandals" and then were blessed with a CBD.

Should they be deleted, I think so, but certainly don't ban the players as obviously not many of you know about this, and the more informed players usually post here. I doubt very many others would know of where they came from then.

after doing some checking, im almost fairly certain i got the RED sandals as in the 2nd picture from red mages in ilsh.. they spawn, or used to spawn red sandals of all colors red.. from pink to dark red.
those same mages used to have blue ones too, from light blue up to dark blue, and grey from silver to almost black.

thats probably where those came from..

the sandals are DUPED AoS reward sandals. I just happened 6 or 8 months ago to buy a pair, then the guy asked if I wanted anymore, so I got worried. I let mine decay, was out 1 million gold. I think you can get banned or in big trouble if you have sandals like this.

If it is/was an exploit shouldn't someone care?
for the color of someone's shoe's ?????
your joking right ?
thank god i have a thing called a life of my own to live instead of worrying what color shoe's someone else has.

the OP has a valid point.
of course they are JUST sandals, but they also represent what could spin out of control yet again in the form of illegal artifacts and god knows what else!
i personally have very little knowledge of how ppl dupe or even script but i damn well have enuf sense to see the ramifications of such a thing; def something worth investigating at the very least.

some of you say, "get a life"?

well i say, "get a brain!"

...or just try using the one you have aye?

:twak:

I find your post a bit insulting. I certainly used my brain, and agree... colored sandles are not hurting anyone. The only thing they really do is make other people covetous of your sweet footwear... bah. :|

If the GMs had absolutely nothing else to do, fine, go after the fraudulent sandal wearers. But otherwise, move on to something more important... like rampant script farming, for example. Suggesting that allowing people to wear sandals from old exploits will somehow be linked to the sudden appearance of "illegal artifacts and god knows what else" is preposterous. That's like suggesting that letting someone off with a warning for speeding will one day make him a drug dealer. Pft. :p

Now, if anyone finds sandals that let you fly, I'm all ears. Perseus shouldn't be the only one to have all the fun. :D

My god, who could possibly care? So someone has some differently coloured shoes - so what?

Find something to worry about that matters in even some tiny way. Jeez.

You are dead on. All those 'but if they can get these it means they might be able to dupe bla blah blah' comments are just ways to justify people focusing more on what other people do/have than just playing the game.

The people whining about this are the same types that follow other characters around in the hopes of catching them doing something so that they can report them.

But, the GM queues will surely be filled up with these types whining to GM's and keeping them from taking care of important issues. I could care less (couldn't care less?) if someone has blue shoes on. Big deal. If more people minded their own business this game would be much better off.

nobody needs to provide a screenshot of the aos reward claim gump.... there was no option for having no additional text... the very least you would get is one line including the character name.

the only way i can think how these would be made is from the old/fixed changeling dupe...

seriously people... we've got the market flooded with armor and weapons made from dupe val runics, and everyone is getting bent out of shape over colored sandals? sheesh
Man, its a sad day for me. I agree with Radun. heh. Let's start a thread trashing each other about something, please. I need to get my life back to normal!

Sure it's not game stopping but neither would someone duping a deck of cards. I mean it's just a deck of cards right?

If one person is allowed to have something that is not meant to be had then so should everyone else.

I still think sandals should be dyeable in the first place and never understood why they aren't.

Right. Its just a deck of cards. Big deal.

Give em to everyone, I agree.

That's the point. As someone said if EA didn't insist on a stupid thing like sandals of all things not being dyeable this post wouldn't even exist. GM's wouldn't be tied up looking into things like this. And players could go on with their lives and stop having nightmares about the fact that someone has blue sandals and they don't.
