The 3.0% SOT was the only reason I went to the puzzle room!
And amen to that, I didn't get poop, but the folks who took advantage...Yet another situation in UO where the moral of the story amounts to "Exploit every system as much as possible, because the eventual fix will only shaft the people who didn't exploit the system."
You can go another way which has hardly any spawn. Go through the secret doors at the dungeon entrance, north, in the teleporter and then it's to the west past the tangling vines.Well, considering the death run through the undead room (I don't know, can the devs squeeze more stuff in there? That'd be great...). They need to do something to make it worth while again. I like the serpent venom mind you, but add relic frags, magical residue, enchanted, essence, imbuing ingredients, more decor items, SOT's, and other goodies to it. Same with the colored floor room, that was fun the first 30 times I did it, but at least add something interesting to it (yes, I know pet dyes used to be there).
I use teleport a bit to get around those vines so I don't get trapped in them. I have no idea why people go through the undead room unless they're hitting the color room en route. rolleyes:You can go another way which has hardly any spawn. I'm with you on this, the 3.0 SOT should be in the Experimental Room.I would vote no.
That puzzle is way too easy, especially since the answers are posted all over the internet. You shouldn't get the most powerful variety of the SOT for solving this no-brainer, even if it's a remote chance.
Instead, I think it should be the lower variety of SOT (.01 to 1.0). The 3.0 needs to be the Experimental Room, which is actually a challenge for most of us.
Well put. But I only blame this about 50% on the exploiters -- the rest of the blame generally falls on the designers for their lack of creativity in fixing said exploit (q.v. Tyball).Yet another situation in UO where the moral of the story amounts to "Exploit every system as much as possible, because the eventual fix will only shaft the people who didn't exploit the system."
Yeah, this is the problem with the experimental room. It's totally unforgiving of less than stellar connections. I wish there were a way to have this puzzle run client-side to remove lag from the equation, but I guess that's an invitation to exploitation.the colored floor room's not been fun for me - I'm O-fer in it.
I've literally had the room kick me back out THEN it turned the color it said I missed.
I like this idea. Maybe a max of .5 or alarity reward for the easier puzzles and a 1. or aclarity for the experimental room. *shrugs*I would vote no.

The problem is that those sorts of limitations are not trivial to create. As far as I know, only the housing and vet rewards are able to detect the status of your account as a whole, probably because the data is stored outside the individual shard servers.ok, the obvious solution is just to make it so you can only do it once per account every 24 hours--not per char.
Why? I never even got one all the times I did it. See this is the problem lower spawn rate-1 per character etc.. The exploit has being fixed correct? The Sot are out there in mass. Now the ones who got all the SOT too many to sell need to kill the competition. So by calling on lower spawn rate-1per character any other nerfs all the SOT they have in stock won't be worthless and they can maximize there profits as soon as stock run dry.no, the obvious solution is to adjust the sot drop to a lower rate.
I completely agree with Harb here. The current skill gaining system is what is broken, not 3.SoTs. The SoTs simply allow you to finish off a skill. Once per char per day is perfect. They are more then rare enough with that timing. And seeing as how its still very hard to get the actual skill you need, this encourages player interaction through trading. I think that having the 3.0 SoTs as a reward is a GREAT idea! I think it should be kept, and I think that it should be kept at once per day per char. It's difficult for me to add much to this conversation, I wasn't in there before the "fix" so can't really get a "feel" for what's "proper." I'd stay out of this conversation completely, but am I the only one that really has no problem with 3.0s being readily available if players commit their time and efforts to attaining them? I do agree they should be a challenge, but really all a SOT - 3.0 or 0.1 - means to me personally is a method to get around a cumbersome skill gains system, something that has been elusive forever. Yeah, I know some see them as a quick ticket to a 30 mil gp sale from their vendor, but to me, they should be a play boost opposed to a revenue boost. So I say SOTs, even 3.0s, for everyone!
No flame at all, in fact of the 28 characters the wife and/ or I play, there are exactly 0.0 skills from SOTs or alacrity bonus. That said, going it the "hard way" is far from anything I'd encourage or dictate to anyone, friend/ foe/ vet/ newer player. I just find it absurd, that of the six or so of ours who still have some range for gains, that I have to wait 51 hours to grab the GGS points for the Mrs, who won't "grind away" at anything (thus I do it for her). Having been at this for 12+ years, I'm just saying that IMO, our skill gain system, in all of it's various flavors over the course of time, has always been a tad on the "repressive" sideI will probably get flamed and hated on but what ever happened to actually WORKING the skills up?...
I do agree with you that the GGS is broken. Too bad we don't get power hour anymore. Hell, I would take a power 15 minutes just to grab a few extra points but at least I would be doing the work and not eating a scroll. No flame at all, in fact of the 28 characters the wife and/ or I play, there are exactly 0.0 skills from SOTs or alacrity bonus. Definitely not that rare. I could understand possibly one a day per account but not one a month.True, but I could see a way of doing it fairly.
Put the SOT on a counter - Each account could get ONE of the SOTs at random, every month (if they are even lucky enough to get it to come up as a possibility - one could go 30 days in a row without that reward popping up) - or have it set to drop one every 100th puzzle completion by a character.
Frankly, the drop rate was just fine. If someone has 100 characters to run through there, fine, let them spend all day running those 100 characters through there.no, the obvious solution is to adjust the sot drop to a lower rate.
Alright...so now you wish to exclude those with disabilities from ANOTHER puzzle room eh? Well done!okay, here's the solution: make the hallway so dangerous that one misstep and you get like 500+ damage. and then also your corpse gets taken away and then everything in your bank disappears also.
or just give us alacrity scrolls in lieu of pinks.
i don't know what you're talking about but it sounds stupid.Alright...so now you wish to exclude those with disabilities from ANOTHER puzzle room eh? Well done!
