IDOC Idea for item release / distribution - script buster

The OP obviously knows nothing about scripting for one. To script loot an idoc house you have to have access tthe house and chests frist to even tell the script what to loot!....No access, no script.

Furthermore, while they have taken action when they can prove it, it will never be gone. The EC was written in LUA, which in my opinion would be an experienced script writers dream.

After all these years can we just enjoy what time we have left in the world of Britannia? Without claiming everyones a cheater beacuase you didn't get what you wanted?

One of the worse things about the near-constant accusations of cheating is that it in effect disguises actual cheating.

I have no doubt that script-looting, script-placing, etc., all sorts of cheating has occurred and continues to at IDOCs as well as other aspects of the game. I have no doubt that cheating helps.

But that doesn't mean most do it, it doesn't mean it's an advantage in every situation, it doesn't mean that one supports cheating for pointing out the obvious lack of merit in a particular anti-cheating proposal, and mostly it doesn't mean that when you lose to someone in any aspect of this game that the person you lost to clearly was cheating.

Actual cheating is buried among dozens of accusations of it.

I'm sure every MMO you've ever played has many cheaters. and probably many more in them, because of the rl cash value of the virtual items/currency.

EA/UO doesn't condone cheating, it's just hard to stop it, take WoW for instance (all of blizzard MMOs actually), You have no clue how many people script/bot to sell gold/loot, and they have punk-buster.

It's just not as obvious on WoW, since most things are Instanced/private.

UO is special in many ways but one I am not proud of is the fact that they admit they know of all the rampant cheating and refuse to do anything about it ... I have never played another game that cheating has become such an open acceptable form of play
Who is saying there is not cheating in other games ?

No other game that I have played accepts it the way the Devs do here as well as the playerbase .... Heck just go thru the Stratics post you will see many people saying scripting is now a part of UO and to just get over it

Not sure how wicked evil bad it is to post to another games forums, but I'll do it anyhow.. Keep in mind this is that games Official forums, and you can browse around on there all you like I haven't in a while but there's all kinds of "bots" "hacks" and drama that this community could not even begin to fathom or imagine.. and it's F2P too, another little tidbit for all those that are suggesting UO go the way of the F2P game. http://boards.lineage2.com/

The devs have never, to my knowledge, refused to do anything about cheating. What they have refused to do is name banned cheaters. They can't do that.
IDOCers, more than any, should be able to see evidence of where bans have occurred. When houses inexplicably fall at strange times and all, or part, of the contents are deleted. Don't you ever make the connection? I do.

They will never totally stop cheating. They'd be pretty special if they did, it would be the only game, RL or virtual, that was cheat free!
So how about stop giving them grief for not achieving the impossible?

It may surprise you to know that many, many normal players play happily for days on end without giving a passing thought to whether other people are scripting or cheating, they just play the game.

IF you have actual proof of a script or hack submit it to EA - or even post it in our Bugs forum and I will make sure it reaches them - that's if you trust me - the list of people who can see those posts before they are made public is VERY limited. Those I consider to be probable exploits are passed to Mesanna and her team without ever being made public.
IF you find someone you believe is scripting, send in a GM call - but don't hang around waiting for something to happen, it's not necessary, just go on with your day.
Let's stop the witch hunts on Stratics please, they achieve little and are bad for the health of the community.

They do refuse to do anything about it when a simple patch every few days could break the scripting programs...
Nobody is asking them to totally stop cheating just do something about it rather then sweeping it under the rug ....

They should ban anyone who scripts (looting,skill gains,killing monsters,resource gathering). Wait that would be the end of UO. I can give you a rough estimate 75% of people use certain programs for whatever reasons and I feel that's a low end number from my experiences. Keep putting your polls and crying about scripters but they do not affect my game play and I will never let them get to me nor let there cheating ways jade my precious UO!

A myth? Must be a huge overwhelming coincidence that over the last 15 years or so every guild I have been in/every vent I have been in people openly discuss there using scripts (this is thousands of players). That's why certain websites have 50k reg users bc noone uses scripts? Galen, I have some prime ocean front property in oklahoma would you be interested in buying? This is the reason they just don't perma ban everyone that scripts, bc they would be out of jobs.

I do not support there cheating ways but these are the facts.

Just because you hang around with cheaters does not mean that the rest of us or even most of us cheat.
