Ideas

(Subject that was due to be brought up at the 4/29 Meet and Greet)

As an extension of the suggestions brought up during the Craft Festival and with the contest for the Fairegrounds design taking place, I thought I would post up some ideas for events to take place in celebration once the Fairegrounds are open. Initial ideas included:

1. An archery contest
2. A "Last Man Standing" style naked PvM contest
3. Chess Tournament
4. A crafting contest of some sort (BOD?)

Any suggestions?

I've heard a lot about bagball and how it was once a popular game. Any chance people would be interested in playing bagball at the new fairgrounds? Those of us who have never experienced the game would need some basic instructions, of course. :)

How about having a flea market, where temporary vendors could be put up and folks who don't normally have vendors would get a chance to sell their products? Or maybe LOST could use the fairgrounds for their weekly auction from time to time, just for a change of pace. Not sure of the logistics here, or even if these ideas are possible to implement.

Personally, It doesn't bother me what the idea is, pvp/pvm/crafts/story time, I'd just like to see more, just about every shard had a St. Patty's event, and an Easter event. Sure a few people got baskets before they disappeared, but every other shard got baskets that stay'd for a few weeks and an easter egg hunt or killer bunny etc, to kill as well. The Void event is nice, I can't say anything bad about it, but I notice that other shards get way moooooore events then LA does, I realize this is one of the smallest shards, but it's one of the best community's. I don't want to x-fer a char off or two just for something I could be getting here.

gortman,

Good idea! Bagball is a definite possibility. A flea market is something that I have participated in before and so long as some players are willing to vendor, then it should be great. And I don't see why a guild could not have their auctions there should the need arise.

Prime,

Totally understandable. I should perhaps elaborate.

1. When it comes to sheer number events, consider that while yes, some shards do receive more, many of these same shards also have two Event Moderators. Believe it or not, as I can attest to, this is a big factor in the number of events taking place. Does this mean I am trying any less? Of course not. But I am particular about what events I hold, which is why I endlessly encourage feedback and suggestions (and try to have Meet and Greets once a month), which I take very seriously.

2. As I remarked in a previous thread about the Easter Event, that was a misunderstanding on my part. I thought the on going event had a longer duration. I only found out after I had put everything together that the event was expiring at the end of that weekend. It wasn't my decision, it was above my head and as I have already said, I do plan on making up for it (Involving riddles most likely).

Thanks Prime and gortman for the feedback!

And make no mistake, small community or large one, I value you all just the same. I just would like to hear from you all more!

Naked marathon from the TOK entrance of SA to the other entrance. No using tree of life.

That sounds like a good challenge. No mounts I'm guessing? How many laps to complete the race?

Has the shard ever done a naked dungeon crawl? Or a new character dungeon event?

no mounts. no stealthing. if you die you wait until a team member comes from the starting point to rez you and they leave once your are rezzed and fully healed. nobody can assit you. Can do a relay that when you make it to other side your teammate has to run back thru the opposite direction.

We used to do naked dungeon crawls all the time, years ago. Only done it once in the last year, I think,

The relay idea sounds interesting.

Basara, what dungeon was used for the runs you were at?

I remember doing the following, in ones I participated in...

Tram/Fel (doesn't really matter if you're naked to start)
Hythloth
Deceit
Khaldun

Doom (Malas)

Ilshenar
Sorceror's Dungeon (the one by the Valor champ spawn)
Rock Dungeon (the one south of Montor/Chaos, to the east of the Gypsy desert - everyone unloaded their stuff into the bank at the Gypsies)
Central/Ankh Dungeon (amazing how many people don't realize that is one big dungeon)
Cyclops/evil mage/Wisp dungeon (ditto, though recent events from Melissa on to the SA house quests has helped raise that awareness some)

Running naked through Montor itself, can be a challenge, and I think we did that once as well.

Since I am a big fan of shard history, how about we do a different spin on the old scavenger hunt approach and have something like the "Great Sossarian Trivia Contest"? I'm thinking something like ten participants are randomly chosen by drawing lots and then we ask trivia questions about the people, places, and things found in the lands until we are left with one person who shall reign as the Grand Champion. The trivia can be a combination of straight questions plus some challenges where you might have to run someplace to locate the answer. Could be lots of fun.
