i want to return to uo but have a few questions

im getting that itch again and its not the other thing as i taken my prescription for it....
Im awfully close to reinstalling UO and once again giving it a go.

Problem is i always end up quitting after a few months because i cant ever seem to find like minded people who i can play with so i always up playing solo which sucks.

So few questions if you dont mind.
It seems uo is on the up again? member count seems higher then what i remember it.
Can anyone recommend a good guild to get into on this shard? I havent played in a couple years so they would have to bear with me while i set up my house again and get to grips with all the new stuff.
lastly i remember being very annoyed at the amount of bugs and issues the game had when i left, any improvement there?

if you have atlantic in your sights your on the right track.
there are large and small guilds that are active as hell, and the

guilds like UWF and Ni and ODE are all about the hunting and friendship.
the Rpers have plenty of good and evil guilds to chose from. and they like to do champs and stuff too.
There are very few bugs around now. unless your playing the new 3d beta client. and hacking is soon to be addressed.

Thanks for the reply, wont be trying any new client until im firmly back into the game.
I try and steer clear of rp guilds, dont mind abit of it but i rather be able to talk freely and how i want to.
Any particular guild that accepts new/returning players specially?

Thats another question actually should i just buy an upgrade code for stygian abyss to get fully updated? or will i be missing out on any cool game box items that they do for just about all their expansions?

RP guild or not, Atlantic is the most populated.

A lot of large guilds that do various activities
i.e. UWF for Peerless/Dungeon hunts, Hot/Heat for pvp or factions..

Those are just two random large ones i picked out [please don't take my head off anyone lol]

Also seems the new chat on Atlantic is fairly busy, See people asking for groups etc in it a lot.


As far as the new expansion, Personally i'd suggest it. [This coming from someone who didn't upgrade to S.E. for over a year]
Just a lot of fun new stuff.. The new dungeon is pretty awesome - Theres just enough stuff for everyone. Solo people have things they can fight, Large groups have things to fight. The new puzzles give some cool items.

I take it UO has a universal chat system now then, guess when i get back on i go after someone/people in the same situation and hopefully bumble about until it makes sense

What playstyle do you prefer? I saw you tended to avoid formal RP, so do you like crafting, pvm, pvp, or some of everything. Knowing a little about what you like will help us recommend potential guilds for you.

There is a global chat system now that should be a great help you you. When you log in, you should be in either the general or help channel. To talk in global chat, just put a comma (,) in front of each line. There are lots of friendly helpful players out there so feel free to ask questions - especially in the help channel.

You also have a choice of faction guilds on atlantic, by far atlantic is the most populated and most active shard in UO.

If your a crafter try BMC, they're the best crafting guild im UO by far imo

I use to be mainly pvm and crafting, always wanted to try out peerless and stuff that generally wouldnt be soloed.
But just general stuff, having someone to watch my back, having someone to help out with the numerous corpse runs im bound to do be doing.

You're welcome to give UWF a try. We're an adult, PvM guild that hosts nightly hunts to peerless, champion spawns, new SA areas, as well as old school hunts, such as Ophidians and Terathans. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy it.

Ni is also a good option, if you're willing to give factions a try. I've also had good interactions with members of ODE, HOT/HEAT, TDT, LLTS, members of the RP community, and many other guilds.

Honestly, Atlantic is a great place to be a guild member. There are a lot of good groups out there, provided they stay current with their meds.

UWF looks ideal however your guild hunts are at 9est (2am in the morning for me) so i would end up missing out as im normally logging off between 1am-2am the latest.
Does anyone know of a UK based pvm guild?

problem is all my characters are on atlantic, i have like 1 semi decent character on europa and i dont fancy spending months training a whole bunch of characters up.
Guess i can try out an american guild see how it goes

As for UWF, our nightly guild *sponsored* hunts are at 9pm est. However, it seems like there's always someone asking in guild chat if anyone wants to go do this spawn or that spawn, doom, peerless, etc. So that might still be an option for ya. Not like you couldn't try it, then if you don't like it, try a different guild instead

With the new chat feature, guilds may not be as required as before. Atlantic seems to be fairly busy around the clock so just holler out and see what kind of response you get.

indeed, thats the good thing about atlantic, a couple of days ago i was on 11am our time 9just after the server up) got some trav kleys walked into luna, gave one shout and had a group of 8 ready to go.
