So, I'm interesting in joining your wonderful community. I've read through some of the stickied topics at the top. What i need help on is a template. I love playing thieves but I've only been in UO for about 4 months. That being said, I'm really unsure about what a useful thief template would be in this game. I know i need Stealing, Snooping, and Hiding but outside of that I'm lost. Any help would be wonderful.

I was also wondering if there are any guild that help new siege players out. I can probly find a FAQ somewhere on how to gain skills but it's a lot more fun to have the help of others and learn tips and tricks that i can show to new players one day.

Thanks a ton

join NEW and don't be this guy:
I was out just fighting little creatures like cows, hinds, chickens, sheep just trying to work up my skills cuz I would like to give this shard a chance. and a member of your guild came up to me an attacked and killed me. Then she repeatedly killed me over 20 times. I would run to the healer which was about 3 screens from where I was and have no health and she would kill me. I don't expect a welcome from anyone on this shard but to be repeatedly killed for no apparent reason is beyond normal. I tried and I wont be returning to this shard.
You are going to die. A lot. Don't carry anything worth more than a couple thousand gold, and then you won't lose anything valuable when you die over and over again.

On a side note, Kat, I think you should post your response to the above quote in the Mythbusting siege post, or something.

(sorry for two posts)
Also, check with the scoundrel Rico- I think he runs a thief guild.
He may be able to provide better template help too

I love the thug thief template I miss mine on Chessy from ages ago :( I'd run something like this now...

120 Steal
120 ninja
100 Hide
120 Stealth
120 Mage
100 Snoop
40 med

Who exactly was this? The way he's talking he was obviously new and he went to a healer after dying (like you do) and was killed repeatedly? Why was he killed repeatedly?

Why do you run 120 stealth if you don't mind my asking? ^^

The person who wrote that, posted it to our public forums under the name SiegeCitizen. He did not give his character name.

Why res at the same spot repeatedly? If you can't work out after two or three res kills whats going to happen the if you keep ressing nevermind twenty odd then i think Siege might not be suited for them anyways.

Start with this:
hiding 100
stealth 75
stealing 120
snoop 100
ninja 120

The remaining points are open. I'd do something like 120 wrestling + remainder in focus, or Magery and focus/med.

If you bless a burglars bandana, that'll free up a few skill points in stealing and snooping.

There's plenty of people to steal from in Luna, to get your training in, develop your macros, and learn how to escape when you succeed in a great Yoink!

Once you are confident about that, see if you can catch somebody doing the despise champ spawn or go camp doom or whatever.

So you've been playing 4 months eh? Takes more than that to master the arts here on the planet of Sosaria. :pancakes: As you can see even the cooks aren't so friendly. They will :twak: then :stir: . You can try and :fight:, or :rant2: and if your not :cursing: or :stretcher: you will end up being called a :loser: or be ....Just don't think like a :danceb: and how  :coco: this land is, where many a :sword: will aid in your :wall: or :shots: and eventually make you so :dunce: you will no longer :cheerleader: but :next:

The fact a player makes a char on Siege is enough reason to give them a chance to find out if it's going to suit them.

If they haven't worked out not to res in the same area after a second death to the same player, the killer is doing his shard some good by telling the new player he will keep killing him just because he can...so leave the area, result? new player has learned something.
If the killer just kills the new player over and over leaving the underdog bewildered as to why, result? New player assumes Siege is populated by arseholes and leaves.

We shouldn't forget they come from tram, nor should we forget they don't need to be here, they chose to be here. If we don't afford them a chance so they will want to stay here, then it's our own fault if we have an empty shard. We need them - they don't need us.

@Xempathy, welcome to Siege (sorry I should have said that in my first post)

eh, the person clearly stated they were not going to continue on Siege. Had the person come, made the post, and said it made them unhappy I'd be glad to try and convince them to stay and help them out. But they wimped out after one experience and refused to give it a chance. Their 'dying post' really served no purpose other than to alert us that they can't handle siege.

Indeed I remember my first days on siege and getting rez killed, in fact I gave siege several trys before someone actualy took the time to talk to me and made me want to stay. It was a kindly red in moonglow who saw my noob outfit and took the time to talk to me and provide me a few things.
To PK a noob and rez kill them repeately is just childish and is indeed griefing (the I win button). It has no place in our community and teaches nothing but how petty and immature you are.
However I took great delight in this very same behavior if the person would at least type a few lines at me while doing it ( I do not mean "go back to trammyland ya noob" or "I PwOnDed jooo NuB!!!!"). A great example is old VmP especialy Pappy Joe, Righty WyRm and quite a few others; there was also TAX and the orcs who had there ruthless PKs yet would at least put a little humor into there game play.
I also understand it's a two way street noob gets killed and starts spouting off and so gets trash talked in response.
Siege has no haven it's just sink or swim in very dangerous waters but thru the dedication of Shally and several others we do have a kiddy pool and swim teachers.

Just because the player is new to the shard, does not mean they have the mind of a 2 year old. If a new player cannot work out that he will continue to be rez killed after the second or third rez kill, he doesn't need to be told it will continue to happen, he needs some more rez-killing until his ability to reason kicks in. We are not talking about people who have never played UO. Most Trammel players have been to Fel. How long does it take to get a clue???

I'm not posting in support of senseless rez-killing, so much as I am saying that you cannot place the blame soley on the rez-killer.

So this seems like a good start. is there any reason i want wrestling at 120?
Also is 75 stealth going to be enough to do it efficiently?

Just wanna put in that I also will be starting up on Seige (sick of how deserted Napa is) also thinking about doing a pure theif.
Assuming im using burglers (seems like the best piece to bless imo) or maybe the Shadow Dancer legs (quite a big harder to get ahold of i'd assume?)

I'd like the best template prob for get away and survival, wouldnt worry about killing anyone really.

oh thought i'd also add, what would probably be the best creation template? hiding/stealing probably gonna be hardest to level? I've leveled hiding before on a few characters and seem to recall it took quite awhile. I havnt tried to level stealing since prob 1998. lol.

Indeed.
For futtering sake please do take the time to at least type one thing or have one maccro for the noobs. A positive one please.
Que pasa calabasa? (macro #1)

Oh a positive one, okies....(ahem) Welcome to Siege. It is all a :danceb: if you happen to :twak: or :cursing: you can look toward the NEW guild. If you are solo and :eyes: for a "good" guild. on :pancakes: up a character template. If you are:party: and don't :sword: as a Lunatard, you may be :smooch and 'd so the burdens of the :fight: don't make you :sad4:. Siege is more than
so get your thief on, and come :p at me.

Ugh..why did I let someone roast my acheing' brain for this..:cursing:

It's not the question of a new player having the mind of a 2 year old and no ability to reason. There is no reason for repeatedly killing a new player to Siege, if all he is doing is attempting to play and train his skills without bothering anyone else. "senseless res-killing" is exactly what it says on the tin. The mind of the 2 year old in this case belongs to whoever is repeatedly killing him - without telling him he is being killed just because his killer can, so he should leave the area.

We advertise Siege as a shard different from the rest, one of those differences should be that there will be no "senseless res killing". I tell new folk the pks on Siege have more class than they may be used to, most do. Those who are not interracting other than to 'senselessly res-kill" a new player, are not doing this shard any good in a new players' eyes, and shouldn't in yours.

We have lost too many new players because of actions and mentality such as this. As I said, we need them - they do not need us.
