A cold wind whistled through the night as a wispy claw of clouds began to close around the moon. On the edge of the rotting, twisted haunted forest stood Castle Thornbriar.

Yamato Enguzuri stepped through the cobwebbed-choked front gate, whipping strands away from his kabuto. The hilts of his twin katanas, Arashi and Shinobi, jutted from the back of his sode. A banner of his clan was fixed on the back of his Rune Beetle Carapace armor. The bushido warrior's armored boots clanked against the cold floor.

Suddenly the shadows began to melt before him into a large, gaunt figure with a sallow face and blazing red eyes. It was Rot Cadaverous, the horrific nosferatu lord of this haunted realm! The object of Yamoto's quest.

Cadaverous's baritone voice echoed as if from the bottom of a well. "You have found your doom, mortal!" The unholy one threw back his head in a long, punishing laugh.

When he looked back at his prey, the words froze in his throat. The interloper wasn't trembling in fear, he wasn't fleeing, he wasn't getting into a desperate combat stance. Instead he saw Yamoto whipping off his mempo and presenting his exposed throat with a huge grin on his face.

"Whuh- what are you... what are you doing, mortal?"

"Go ahead! Bite!!" The warrior gleefully implored.

Cadaverous was a bit nonplussed and bewildered, but he quickly recovered. "I, uh, I will drink your lifeblood! I will drain your body of your warm susten..."

"SO DO IT," The samurai curtly cut him off. "Look, I need to be a vampire. It's an easy way for me to double my damage output. And the more you're sitting there blah-blah-blahing and playing all Count Chocula is more time when I'm stuck at my 200 DI. I'm a busy samurai, you Dracula reject. SO GET TO SUCKIN ALREADY."

The ageless abomination took a step back and awkwardly rubbed the back of his own head and looked down. "You know what? I'm really not that hungry any more. This is... weird, man."

The samurai threw his mempo down hard. "LOOK GAI-JIN," he thundered, "I spent three weeks riding on a Tokuno Galleon to get here. ALL other vampires in the realms are at Twilight and True Blood auditions. WE ARE DOING THIS."

The undead lord stepped backwards and pointed a trembling figure over Yamato's shoulder, "Uh, look. Um, I think you need to leave. J-just, just you know... just leave me alone, OK?"

With this, the samurai angry grabbed the vampire by the hair and shoved the vamp's face onto his neck. In panic, Rot Cadaverous turned into a bat and flew in a panic deep within his castle.

Yamato cursed and picked up his mempo. That third rate Lugeosi was crazy if he thought Yamato was walking out of here alive. An undead terror couldn't hide in his castle like a wimp forever.

SOOOOO

How do I make a sampire? Is there a guide somewhere? I'm finally giving into the "if you can't beat em, join em" mentality.

UO Stratics *New* | The Sampire

That is Stratics's guide to the Sampire template.

Also if you look on Stratics's Warrior forum....Well, the Warrior Forum is a misnomer these days. It's really the "Sampire (and other warrior skills)" forum.

RP-wise this template gets flack it really doesn't quite deserve. I guess it kinda does deserve it, but not to the extent that it's gotten it.

It doesn't have to be a vampire in RP; it could merely be a Samurai who has learned Necromancy, including the ability of a Necromancer to take on the form and power of a vampire temporarily.

RL Samurai weren't known to play fair all the time to be sure. Miyamoto Musashi would show up late to his duels in order to infuriate his opponent and make sure they were too infuriated to think or fight properly. Hiroaki Sato's book Legends of the Samurai describes multiple episodes where Samurai would make kills more like what we'd think of as a Ninja. (Dressing up like a woman and back-stabbing seems to be fairly popular.)

Many Samurai would probably have not minded learning a little Necromancy had it been available to them. I'm sure some would have objected, of course.

I would also urge you to play a template that's comfortable to you. Regardless of what you may read, a Sampire isn't the only template that can solo many high-end monsters. (Though I have no doubt it can solo many things most-efficiently!) Also, a Sampire can't solo, say, Corgul, while that Sampire is in vampire form (corrupted life essence turns your life leach into a disadvantage). (Last I heard anyway!)

So don't feel pressure to play a template you aren't comfortable with. There's many ways to skin a paragon succubus.

throwing wraith gargoyle > sampire

  • stays ranged to avoid getting melee'd (saves durablity and less chance to die)
  • uses one handed weapons so can easily use potions without nerfing your damage
  • doesn't require parrying since you will not just sit there
  • only uses 30 necro/50 spirit speak as opposed to needing 100 for vampire form
  • simplified weapon setup
  • better racials. 50% hit chance cap, 2 MR, and berserk ability

common template

120 throwing
120 tactics
120 anatomy
120 bushido
120 chiv
30 necro
70 spirit

with the nerf of consecrate weapon, you'll want more than 60 chiv

As some have posted my friend there are many builds but the premise is simple. Deal damage to heal (hence vampire form) and try avoiding getting hit. With that said here is what you are looking for:

120 weapon
120 Bushido
100 Necromancy
100 Tactics
85 Chiv (due to changes)
60 parry (at least) you need a total of 300 in weap + Bushido + Parry for the mana bonus

Some remove parry for healing (need at least 90 healing to avoid fumbling fingeres)

that leaves some choices which are the following:

Spirit speak (this is nice for withering lesser spawn in champ spawns, also I Love to use it for Curse weapon which gives more healing from your damage)

Resisting spells- If your doing doom this is kinda necessary due to blood oath (which is a sampires' bane) Also is nice for avoiding para spells which personally I hate!

Anatomy is a nice boost for damage. If you go with healing you really have to have anatomy for the healing bonus.

Equipment is pretty straight forward:

65ish in all resists (remember in vamp form you lose a lot of fire resist so woodland armor enhanced with bloodwood gives a nice boost.

DCI- you want 45 in this period. Especially if you keep parry at 60

HCI- This is important but can be avoided by spaming Lightning strike

LMC- You want max LMC to spam your specials

SSI- You want to be at 1.25 swing speed

Dex/stam: as much as you can get! Swing speed is important (faster you hit the more damage you do which means the more health your leaching

Damage increase- max it out between your weapon and gear. (100 di)

A myth about the sampire is the suits are expensive. You can put together a pretty cheap suit with a little creativity. My mistake in the beginning was thinking I had to buy all the high end armor, and ended up using lesser armor in the end LOL. BTW Rune Beatle carapace is GREAT (especially if you are in a faction and can get the faction one).

Weapon wise your looking for good damage increase and high mana leech. Stamina is a nice addition but I have found not a deal breaker. Many think life leech is required however it is not. SSI is also very important. Some say that feint + 45 DCI + Hit lower attack makes a sampire VERY difficult to kill (PVM since doing PVP with a sampire is considered suicide.)

Oh and welcome to the club! If you are ever on napa ill show you a sampire in actioin against the dread horn.

The in game macro system in the EC allowed me gain necro quite quickly. It was Perfect.
There is also a guide to gaining parry that refers to Covetous in fel. Take on as many stone harpies as you can handle and parry rises quite well. I have a blast building my newest Sampy. The suit can be a bit of a challenge but it is very rewarding for many of my chrs from my ingredient collecting warriors to my crafters as well. It has renewed immersion into uo that I havent experienced for awhile.
Have a blast dude.
Being patient has increased my focus for fun as well......

concentrate gives more and more increased damage the higher skill you go. with 120 chiv, its 100% chance for hitting their weakest resist and an additional 15% damage increase (i think). not sure how much it helps, but i went 120 to dispel player's rising colossus.
