I'm not sure who originally discovered you could do this.
I was sick when a friend posted this in discord
and he never answered them when they asked how he did it.
He had just returned and asked if we knew that you could dye them

I read that you have to dye them before using the gem on them. Can't do it after.

personally I think they are beautiful and I hope they let it remain colorful.

I wanted the Triton to be Red to begin with. Maybe thats why its the default color. Lava Lizard.
I could see someone on a ship trying to dye their cannon but missed and hit the Triton. Or someone just tries a thousand odd things at every patch.

For pets like this one I agree. I could see; Beetles, Bane Dragon, All Eodon pets other than Tigers, Reptalon, Rams, all pets that don't go to 5 slots.
Last I checked, there was still some Ethereal mounts that can't be turned Ethereal translucent? I can't remember which I tried it on, maybe the dragon mount, but his colouring couldn't be toggled, even though it would look way cooler... en mi opiniones.
I guess the dream would be, rather than dying pets, we were able to cover them with an animal coat for decorative purposes (animal paper dolls when?). Maybe even have them wear a 2-part animal coat, so if you dye each one different colours, the second would provide optional striping/trimming when both worn. That'd be sweet...

A few years ago, they introduced the pet costumes for Cu Sidhes... I actually quite liked the idea and bought a couple.
Point being, people want to customize their pets and outfits by whatever means they can find. Whether its a pet dye tub or some other method, people clearly would like to do the same with their Tritons (and I imagine other pets). It's another potential money making opportunity the developers should take advantage of.
Some of those metallic colored tritons looked quite good!

I would rather it be "triton oil"
that you could purchase from the blackmarket
(flask where you pick the hue, similar to the ship paint)
available in the metallic hues.

Agree. But who does not have a Triton? And who, like me, has more than one but all transformed into lizards? It would be nice to have a pet dye tube for all or almost the tame animals!
