I remember when Rivendell was a friendly place

So, im in Fel gathering pumpkins because of course theres like 5 people in the whole place. Usually they are so busy talking crap to each other on general they never notice me.

I go to Rivendell and there are 3 trashcans on the pumpkin field they placed their houses on. I'm like great. Imagine my surprise when I find ALL of them are only for the folks of Rivendell. These pumpkins aren't worth 50k rofl.

Besides we bring things with us to dispose of them anyway.

I'm sorry the Rivendell folks feel this way about the few denizens that actually visit sunny fel.

Also, the houses are open to the public. Because I guess they are so friendly to us?

Don't know the place at all, but I can see a very good reason why the trashcans would be set to friends or owner rather than public, since there have been reports of people 'lifting' stuff from trash barrels before it got deleted, and thus 'stealing' the turn-in points......

Rivendell used to be a player run town with PUBLIC building, where yes theft happened and it was part of the game dynamics because the game allowed us the mechanics to make our own policing.

I'd bet they moved... I wouldn't know since I left with Trammel introduction...

Anyways even now they are not very friendly...

I am a roleplayer since UO beta and roleplayed everything from a beggar to a thief to a crazy alchemist to the most evil creature in UO's history...

but it seems Rivendell has no "room" for me.

I tried to join our roleplay folks on atlantic and be a community builder, but it seems they are now an elite club and as I was gently explained :

we have gone so deep into our roleplay that your "real UO history" has no more value to us than a macdonalds cheezeburger...

It seems they are self-suffiscient, that there is no need to make Ultima Online an ULTIMA again...

You don't have to comment on everything you disagree with...

what happened to your high testosterone levels and VIRILITY ? You usually snap at meaningful subjects... this is low.

ACB was a leader of the companion program for a while, if he is not willing to suffer as much as us for the loss of something we consider holy by our own scrutiny ; its his choice.

You cannot drag everyone to your level of understanding, especially if you yourself have decided you would go kamikaze with your ideals because of your immature fears of dying and getting old.

*face palm* ohhhh geezzzz ... I was talking to the character >ingammmmme< NOT you in real life !!!
I don't want to know you in real life ...

I am doing something ... and here's where it gets funny
there ain't nothing I can do to keep you from going crazy
I think you already setup house there and had the utilities turned on ...
ie. I think that you responding >as if< I sincerely >cared< and or expected an answer ...
well ...
that IS the crazy part ...

Role play forum and alla that being a realistic consideration, look around doh :eyes:

IF I take you seriously as taking it one way, you crazy; or
If I'm crazy enough to think that you could >only BE< joking and NOT actually "crazy" ...
well it ain't wise to not be aware of a crazy person slipping past ones guard ... now is it?

I'll opt for not taking the chance of not dealing with the real crazies in this case ...

Tag you "crazy" ( at least "out of touch" )

pop a broc :danceb:

and be moving on

didn't they used to be on Tram? on LS anyways
Point of clarification only:

Rivendell the town on LS existed only in Felucca. It had several GM-made blessings and never made the move to Trammel. Its size and membership declined after that. As far as I know, a lot of the buildings and the guild have been sold or transfered to different people. I don't know of any original Rivendell people who still own or participate in the town, but I haven't kept track the last few years.

If you are talking about Atlantic, the trashcans are intended to be for everyone to use. I set those trashcans up years ago so everyone can easily trash the pumpkins. Unfortunately we found that even though the cans are set to anyone, they still cannot be accessed by everyone.

Bingo. Rivendell as a "town" on LS exists no more.

guess the ones i met only called themselves that. They did have an elitist attitude, but were actually quite friendly if you're in the click. I had an offer to join but they also only spoke elvish (Sindarin?). a very large group of friends w/ houses all together, nothing 'official' but was nice roleplay

I think I know who you're talking about - all of the houses were designed to look the same and be Elvish-themed?

Roleplaying drama is the best sort of drama.
Last drama I saw in and around Rivendell was PvP drama. (Specifically a dspute among then-active LS PvP guilds about who "owned" it and who had "owned" it first and whether or not "Trammies" had a right to be seen in the town and whether or not certain parties had the right to hold events there.)

As it's situated in Fel, statistically PvP drama's the one you're more likely to see there, when you see anything at all.

I never experienced Rivendell pre-Trammel. Indeed I never experienced any RP pre-Trammel; it was something I heard about but never ran into. It was something PvPers would brag about having chased away.

And PvP drama is much "better" than RP drama. Always has been. Hoenstly RPers, as much drama as we create and confaltes around us, still have at least triple the repuation for it that we deserve. Looking at the actual evidence, though, there's way more PvP drama than there is RP drama. It's just that folks want to remember the RP drama because it conforms to ideas they already have.

Your bias is showing...

We held many wonderful RP events @ Rivendell LS, and many (most) were raided, but we had great fun nonetheless. We did what good roleplayers do, we incorporated the raids into our storyline and rode it out.

We did, however, have a member or two who couldn't handle the loss of meaningless pixels. They were actually the main source of drama, having to throw the whole night aside because someone stole their scissors...

Which were you?

I'm also upset... but it's because I made an error and did not complete my tought.

I have met people within Rivendell who were friendly too, I was wrong to generalize, it was the leaders who rejected me.

Sorry about that.
