OK, I think tonight is the night I finally throw in the towel on my Holiday Busts.
Many Christmases ago, one of the gifts were holiday busts -- technically, only the human male ones were busts, the others were full statues. They were the different characters from the UO mythos -- Shamino, Dupre, Mondain and so forth.
Being the dummy I've proven myself to be many times, I decided that these were a good speculation item. I collected dozens upon dozens of them. In fact I've got a chest of just these things, in every color, with virtually every name.
Surely I'd be rich!
I wasn't. And yes, I'll stop calling you Shirley.
As of today, nearly 5 years later, these things still aren't worth zilch. I routinely see them for sale for 1k or lower.
I've been holding out hope for years these things would be worth SOMETHING, but I'm finally starting to clue into the fact they never will. I guess because people just don't like them -- the pastels aren't exactly in line with most coloring schemes, and they seem to be met with scorn when you try to sell them to other players.
So tonight I'm gonna finally throw them all out. Can't decide whether to drop them at the bank or what.
Someone once told me, as far as rares, when you part with them, you have two options. You can gift them to somebody, and do them a favor. Or you can destroy the item (ie throwing it in the trash) and do a favor to collectors the shard over by making their inventory more valuable.
