i miss Bounty Hunting, bring it back!

on the sonoma forum they are having a ongoing discussion of old people from days past, and when reading all the names i keep thinking of the people and the when we had fun, and it takes me back to the days of the bounty system.

man i miss that.
i remember logging in, going to the board at the Yew Abby and looking up the names of the top pay outs, then spending my night hunting them down.

was nothing better then killing the top most wanted person and cutting off their head and turning it into the guards.
hehehehhee, and of course the guard saying "oh thats disgusting" but then they still give you the bounty.

why was it they killed off the bounty hunting?
someone had said long ago that it was because of the cutting off of the head part?

i really wish they would bring it back.
it would add so much more fun to pvp.
or at least a added perk, hahaha.

I would love if they brought back the bounty system. The problem I see, however, is how could they implement this system without it being abused?

PK kills tons of other people, gets a bounty.
PK kills himself, logs on another character, collects head and then bounty.
Or PK gets friend to collect bounty.

Therefore it would nearly kill the whole idea of hunters going after the bounty. I'm sure there would be some people who wouldn't abuse this system but there definitely would be people abusing it if the bounty is really that high.

This might have worked a lot better back then when stat-loss made PK's less willing to die, but stat-loss is gone now.

It was a great system and added alot of fun and excitement to the game. Being able to carve up corpses to show that you did indeed get the 'kill' was also great.

It was too bad that part of was removed from the game. The bounty system should be re-instated in some form and that should be an area that draws PvP crowd...rather than the Fel Champion spawns.

But the post about no stat loss is absolutely correct and the Dev's or players would need to come up with some system that couldn't be abused.

yeah, they could bring back decapitation and do something different with the bounty system. make heads give karma if they're murderers, make turning in heads of reds gained by blues in wared guilds a turn in event. i mean i know they could think of something un exploitable if they thought of it. maybe if someones avenges you by killing your killer, turning it in would give them the fame you lost plus a half.

Most people wouldn't collect their own bounty.. it would be more of a competition to see who could have the highest bounty.

I remember back before UO:R I had a red with a 600k bounty (when that was actually a good chunk of change).. ahh.. the good old days.

I'd like to see it come back. Dismemberment, too. Remember human jerky?

Localization killed all that, along with our awesome "chest opening" animation during start up. Darn you foreigners!

Arrr, it done been posted here before that the dismemberment were done away with due to local regulations in I think Germany that would've kept a game having such actions off the shelves. Methinks, if that were truly the case, that it be no longer an issue since UO now gots no shelf presence of note!

lemme start off by saying im not sure why people talk about bringing the bounty system back when its been posted numerous times that it goes against regulations in Germany and cannot be brought back...

this being said lemme make some other points... first off being half german, i should have some say in it and i'm all for bringing back the bounty system... you would think Germany wouldn't have a problem with it considering their violent historical past but who knows... one suggestion could be umm... make all shards EXCEPT FOR drachenfels have the bounty system? theres only one official german shard and they can't complain if other shards have the bounty system

Games in Germany have much stricter standards than games sold anywhere else. Games with M ratings won't find themselves sold in Germany (but are sold in neighboring countries and *somehow* find their way into Germany) and a game with beheadings would be rated M. I know war games usually won't depict a swastika because of it's symbolic history in Germany and war games sold in Germany don't display blood. I know some of the Medal of Honor games would show a black "puff" depicting blood instead of the bright red we see in UO.

BTW, I was a stat in the murder rate.... nothing more.

I would love to have the M for mature back..... Not that it would actually make anyone playing more mature.... but I would prefer the M rating back.

As for the dismemberment thing..... So what...... So make Drach it's own special shard... without bounty.... and give it back to the rest of us.....

I think it was a cool system though I do believe they need to be fixing it in some way so a person couldn't collect on their own death.... that's not right...

But anyway..... the point is moot won't ever come back...
