It goes a little something like this...

An idea for the next major event in UO. Maybe something that can be connected to the real life paranoia of the end of the world for 2012 and the New Year! Muhahahaaa.

Pixies rule. :thumbup1:

I remember when I first started playing UO right before trammel was opened up and periodically there would be town attacks. I really loved that and wish there was something like that every once in a while. I found it quite fun to kill ratmen and lizardmen. I think that even if something like that was done at a specific town it could be quite fun.

I started right after Tram opened as well. We had 3 major invasions in Tram that I remember... the swamp stuff, the Juka, and the ants. All in the woods... all around my young and very highly visited vendor mall. To gate, one would have to stand guard to kill spawn while the other did the gates. Try keeping that in mind for getting traffic to your shop. :)

What killed the whole business aspect of West Brit Tram Bank was the town invasions. Whoever chose that move of invaiding the cities distroyed a lot of the live-commerce and it seams, no matter what, it will never recover. :twak: West Brit should have been off limits, no excuse. The tide will never turn unless the same actions that distroyed WBB fall to the lazy-capital of Lagtown. Will they? Too chicken. You can bank on that.

I remember when I first started Lizard men were attacking Britain, you had to pay for the Inn and Weapons bought from the blacksmith were good enough to get you started hehe

What would be fun is if the Devs gave all vendors in Luna weapon skills and 10k hp and had them attack adjacent shops in a massive city wide merchant brawl for a few days. Leaving Luna a shambles like Magincia was so it could be redone differently later. :)

Any vendor that gets 'killed' has all it's goods and clothing deposited in the house sign. All the empty vendors could be gotten rid of in an entertaining fashion this way. <laughs>

I could deal with losing a few days sales and having to set vendors back up to see this. <g>

The weeping and lamentations would echo forever in every corner of UO! But, yes... it would be amusing. :)

I disagree about WWB. WWB was still thriving in Trammel until Luna was introduced. Luna has everything you need in a central location so why wouldn't people bank at a town that has a moongate and stables right by the bank.

I can't speak to any shard but Atlantic on this but, WBB on Atlantic was thriving long after Luna came about. If was not until constant invasions in Brit that Luna stopped being the Ghost Town.

I hate Luna with a passion... and still do 98% of my banking in Skara Brae.

Stable there is just a few short steps from the bank... the moongate isn't too far... and it's generally quiet there.

Ta_Mira - Not that you would know... if you didn’t play Atlantic... someone actually did our WBB a very-very WISE turn, but in the aftermath of the invasions... activity remains, but a shadow of it's former self. This includes a stable area... PLUS a public moongate, along with an arcane circle. I’ve visited just about every other shard in UO, every WWB... and some have nicer décor... some have nothing at all. If this was more uniformed, it would fix a lot of the problems people complain about when we discuss Lagtown vs. WBB. PLUS, just like with this year’s giant turkey spawn and the law-breakers leading them out of spawn zones to share the murderous super-monsters with innocent victims, turning off the guard call is a death sentence to every possible step in the right direction. Moonglow has been having the same issues since that mirror world event. DON’T TURN OFF GUARD CALL! Dhoi!

Invade other cities? Whatever, I say. It's just like we were talking about before about blocking runes. If you pick your bank as one less traveled, you are far less likely to have constant trouble, rather then the countless bank-sitters of Lagtown. If you play a less populated shard? Check out Atlantic any day between 3-8pm.

For the record... Skara Brea has always been my preferred bank of choice, like MalagAste. This also brings me to another big problem with all the non-Asian shards... the Asian staff has rubbish bins at all banks. We barely have any public bins. 5 in total for Atlantic? For 20 banks? Another reason people stay away from bin-less banks, I’d say.
