armor and stuff like that is problematic on siege because you always lose it so you end up with naked tamers instead - what if they put in insurance on siege so people could actually wear armor that's halfway decent but to balance it, they made the insurance costs much higher than normal (gold isn't exactly easy to get on siege ...)

(ps ... i know the siege "purists" are gonna say no - don't bother replying)

No thanks, Item Insurance do not belong on Siege

All we need is easy to replace stuff and we are getting there with the crafting changes.

We have one Siege bless, that's enough. Remove pet bonding and let tamers use their Siege Bless to bond one pet just like I can bless one weapon.

Interesting approach. Express an idea, but state you only want to hear
from people who agree with you.

Took the words right out of my mouth... The Siege "Purists" as you call them are just as entitled to an opinion as those who would agree with you, Kojak. In fact, changing the entire spirit of the shard would affect those purists the most. Everyone runs around in throwaway armor on Siege... If everyone has the same opportunity to succeed or fail, isn't that the very nature of the word "balanced"...?

So...destroy a major thing about what is unique to Siege to solve another problem?

Sounds more than a bit like throwing the baby out with the bathwater to me.

(Except for 3 weeks on Atlantic when I started UO almost 4 years ago, Siege has been it for me. However, I favor the Siege bless slot for 1 item, so I guess I am not a "purist" and therefore not breaking the thread rules.

Stop trolling.

Insurance killed thieves on all shards but siege. The siege tamers do not normally run naked, they wear GM stuff like everyone else, and they lose it frequently. If they are naked, they just go down faster. Tamers are usually the first target in any battle.

Siege players don't have a problem with this system and certainly don't want insurance after the years of trying to get things unblessed.

I have a really good idea, too. I think we ought to take that main landmass with all the cities, and duplicate it as another land you can enter through a moongate. Then we can have the duplicated landmass not allow PvP. This would give a safe haven for people who want to place houses and play Siege but do not like the pvp aspect.

The devs would never do anything so fundamentally flawed. This is one of the most ridiculous ideas to grace these halls in years. I hope a mod deletes this before someone actually thinks this is a good idea and sets the wheels in motion. No shard should ever have to find themselves the recipients of such a fate.

They did that with some other game, I forget which one. It was real popular in the 90's.

How about we don't put insurance on Siege, and we require pet bonding to use the personal bless deed?

Then we make it so balls of summoning can't be used in non-human form, have a casting delay comparable to blade spirits, and have a 20 minute delay timer?

Problem solved.

Adding insurance to Siege would be making it a non-Siege shard...kind of a silly idea don't you think?

Rykus, I really think Nestorius was sarcastic when he posted this second idea to show how stupid the first one is.
I doubt he was anywhere near serios

I think you are on to something! But, they would also need to remove the RoT system, and allow players to sell to NPC and buy at normal shard rates, and tools and stuff should not count down uses, and players should be able to buy cloth from NPC.

they should add some sort of code you could use to get an already made character with 70-80ish skills in known templates, just to start you out right.

Oh yes, that would definitely be needed in the new world.

Maybe also set up some type of method for people who would like to experience the brave new world in bodies they are already familiar with and with all their most prized possessions, and if for some inexplicable reason, they get bored with the utopia, allow them to move to other lands with all their possessions as well?

Do you think we could just get a character character screen with 7 slider bars that range from 0 to 120? Complete with drop down menus to select a skill for each bar?

Just slide 'em up and you're ready to PvP.

This would be a great addition to Siege Perilous!!!

Well...that is a nice idea, but really doesn't go far enough. I would rather be able to say stuff like "set taming 1200" and "set str 100". I would really prefer to go to my bank and say "give arties" and magically have all of them appear. Also, I'd like to say "give resources" and have everything I need for crafting in huge quantities appear, with tools & runic kits that are all but inexhaustible.

Oh yeah...forgot. It would really be cool to be able to ride all the ethy mounts without waiting for silly things like account age.

Must not play siege. We dont need any insurance thanks though. Have fun golden cursor boy. I dont see why people are afraid to post here. Besides this forum we are prolly the 2nd most active one. We have an active shard we just want what you all get. SUPPORT.

Well try a prodo shard then I beleive you guys have what 20+ mirrored "duplicated" lands... PLenty of land mass to hand out at the bank with your golden cursor. Theres no room for you on siege unless your willing to risk something.

Yer gonna get one anyway.

Insurance is bad for Siege in more ways than one.

We don't have "insurance bugs" so that our best gear can drop without foreknowledge.

We don't have spawns raided by mega-LRC toting guilds who rez and repeat right there in the dungeon in front of you. Drop someone at a champ spawn here, and they stay dropped (until they bring in account #233974367, anyway)

We don't have insurance, and we want it that way.

I know the Trammel "purists" are gonna say no - don't bother replying

First of all, when you have the gumption to play with us. Spend some time here with out your insurance and the fear, then, perhaps you can make a Siege suggestion.

We have fought a long time to rid our home of the taint of insurance. While I am good with the one bless just to shake things up, many here would do with out that even.

Insurance is not the 'fix' to the tamer issues.

*waves*

Well imagine my surprise to see your name posting over here. I was all set to tell you about NEW guild and offer a hearty welcome to Siege.

Now some here will not label me a Siege purist cuz I also still play on Chesapeake too and here both sometimes same days even. So theoretically I would not be labeled a Siege *purist.*

When they put insurance into this pixel world I thought it was the dumbest thing they ever did............... so there I was not even playing upon Siege back then yet, when folks whom loved my gm marked thigh boots were....insurancing the boots. Now the boots only were priced at 150gp back then off my vendor..insuring me gm mark boots, cost them lots more..not to mention suckin for business ...........they never lost my gm mark boots, never had to buy them any more, and insuring them cost MORE than the darn boots ..lots more.

So DOH ! I do NOT insure there and I am in felucca too uninsured there,...nor would I insure HERE even if they offered it here,...insurance to me just says paranoia, someone that is terrified to even loose thigh boots easily remade by any crafter, barely cost much..and they too scared to loose mere boots........... insurance is just dumb says lookey at me im too chicken too loose a body sash, bandana or boots...........bleh.

IF folks insured even thigh boots................that says a lot bout them !!

*theoretically some thing very costly; one might fathom insuring..but the one item bless can tend to that *

I guess I am not a Siege Purist.......nope just old school uo purist and some things developed like insurance was just a dumb addition for peeps too scared to loose even a pair of game pixel boots, and negates any needs of players, to buy off of gm crafters, even those simple things, like a pair of boots !

Is there a message that this thread has been moved, with a link to here??

well that's not fun!!! Why didn't they at least link people here???? That's what they do whenever they move a message to Spiels n Rants!! Now, Kojak doesn't know where to look to see what fun he started!!!

You mean like making a trammel on siege? They did that with the oriental shard Mugen, siege rules, but has a trammel, but you can also pvp in trammel, so just another hunka land for houses

Welcome to Siege. You will not find ANYONE as passionate about this game
on any other shard. Despite possible first impressions, the vast majority of
Siege players are really just big teddy bears. Many enjoy PvP and some will
kill you on sight, but practically all will go out of their way to help even total
strangers.

Im down, 1 mil per insured item, and 500k of that goes to the person who kills you.

So if you think you can afford 11 mil to insure an uber suit, and really want to give whoever kills you 5.5 mil in return thats fine by me cause i dont care HOW great the gear you are wearing is, you'll still get your ass handed to you eventually
