...and I'm going to share my secrets on how it's done!
1. Make sure you have had lots of caffeine. With sugar, preferably. If it's been an hour after the fall and you aren't vibrating from OD'ing on coffee and nervousness yet then you need to drink more.
2. Count to 10 or 11 between placement attempts. Switch it up. You'll still get a hot tool but at least you won't zone out in zombie counting mode, and it keeps things interesting.
3. (Actual tip) I got 4 hot tools trying to place, and discovered that if you log out a hot tool character in their house it won't time out on the tool. I had to keep running characters in, making sure they had $$$ in the bank etc.
4. Important! Try to place on a character that owns a house. I'm serious, I knew this was going to work. In fact, if they have the vendors up even better. An account holding a castle full of stuff with tons of vendors is ideal. You want to make it as inconvenient as possible to have to move and fix things, so the quirky gods of fate are more likely to smile upon you, and pass over people who took all the right precautions.
5. I have no #5.
6. If you have to pee, go pee. Your kidneys are (slightly) more important than some virtual property. But you can omit washing your hands if you feel like you didn't get anything gross on them.
An after tip:
7. Run onto your plot, rename it something dumb, and make it public, It's an empty plot, but people still want to walk on it and go thru an idoc placing "cool down" period, at least for a couple minutes. Alternately, strip off all your clothes, run around in circles, and scream WOOOO!!!
