I don't see how these blue crystals could give me anything better than these robes

I have an idea what the blue crystals might be used for in the next event, but I don't actually know. I got 4 more robes today and I'm trying to decide how many crystals I want to save. I thought 1k at first, but now I'm thinking 250 & a bunch more robes.

These robes are ridiculous. They've already said they aren't planning on more robes. Tons of people will quit in the next couple of years and the value of these things will skyrocket.

What do you guys think?

Would be nice if the sick gypsies stuck around for a while after the event ended and that way if you don't like the use for them in the next story arc, you could aways turn them in for robes.

I'm gonna go with the following:

1. slow down- (your probably dreaming about essence runs at this point if your even sleeping not good)

2. get a life - (you obviously play UO WAY to much and thats not healthy for you or your family if you have one / i can see it now daddy come play catch with me... NOT now son i'm in the middle of my 1000th essance run maybe next week when this UO event is over.)

3. get a job - (if you have that many crystals and or robes again ya got WAY to much free time and probably don't work a "real" job! / sorry selling UO items isn't a job and neither is playing UO!)

Finally my thoughts?

after running thru that twice for two robes I quit and gave the any extra crystals I had to guild mates, I not concern about saving any of them as they said will not be necessary. So all I got now are some yellows that I turn over to guild for events later.

theres a neat easter egg in the game once you recieve your 1000th crystal, a gump comes up telling you that you have overdosed on pixels and closes your account for good, forcing you to find a life.

waay more than that in a day, but we have crystals in stock most of the time so you cant figure on 200 a day. I sold 150 reds today along with the blues...

I'm just going to answer these in order even though they have nothing to do with anything really.

#1 I do need some rest. I was going to stop after tot3, but you wouldn't believe the money we made doing this. Plus, these robes are ridiculously nice & I had to have 12 I think just for our characters.

#2 I have a 3 month old baby. He sits in my lap while I play. Imagine being able to raise actually raise your kids. That's what I've done for 10 years. My son is over there killing goblins. Many of you on atl see him all the time. My wife isn't as good so she's in shame... We love her anyway.

#3 one last time. This get a job thing is tired so I'll tell it all to you. I'm going to ignore it from now on.

When i was 14 we went in the junk business and cut grass. We took that money and bought rental trailers.

When I was 17 I was out of school. I finished ecpi in 6 months and started working in computer business. By the time I was 31 I had run computer companies and made enough rl money (basically the same way I make uo money) not to ever do that again. It's been 17 more years. You have to do something or you go insane. When this event is over I'm going to take a break. Seriously...

This isn't about any of that. I think the crystals are going to be used to heal magincia, but I mean how good a reward can any of that be? The robes are worth 50m-100m in 2 or 3 years. Just wait and see.

You seem really nice, but my situation is just different from most people who play these games. I got imprinted from the original underworld.

I bought a lot from you and did what I do with them.


But for advice... remember the robes are only as good as a +10% Defense chance increase robe falling on the next monster.

That is the robes could get trumped by something better...

Doh, a 3 month old baby. Assuming the 1961 in your title is a year of birth, you're borderline as bad as I, 51 with a 3 year old! And yes, I also "bit" into this one more than normally as the robes are very nice.

To your point, the latest FoF indicates we'll need blue crystals for an uppcoming event. I may be wrong, but am operating under the assumption that if there's a future event requiring the crystals, there will also be a mechanism for obtaining them. As to advice, get robes while available.

Nope, if you read the FoF, then the blue crystals aren't exactly necassary but would be beneficial, there won't be a way to get them after the 15th, keep a few or not, YOUR choice. I already made my decision.

The quest ends on the 15th, you can't get anymore blues, or otherwise, after the 15th, they have already SAID this...

It sounds like you could use a break from the grind.

It's very easy to become single-minded about acquiring things whenever they are in limited supply. It happens all the time, and it's artificial hype designed to keep you in-game as long as possible. Just about any item in-game is in "limited" supply, and we don't care unless we're led to believe we want them.

As for having children join the game with you rather than you joining their world, that's entirely your prerogative. I don't even like children, let alone profess to know how to raise them. But some day you'll look back on these times and want to reminisce. Will your fond memories be in photos or screenshots?

Trump these robes? Yeah, I can think of several ways, changing into an apron/belt for example. Or adding SDI 5 (mwuahahaha, I love SDI), or swapping out one of the properties for for SDI.

My advice though, turn in the crystals for the robes now. Use any remainders for whatever they have planned. If it's something really cool, the devs will come up with alternative methods to get them.

Oh, remember to keep a couple of the crystals for decor purposes.

You would not believe the rush when the gypsy pops and the robe falls in your pack. It's the same feeling for the last one I got as for the first one.

UO seems innocent but it's basically the same mechanism as playing on the one armed bandit; just like a slot machine and gambling can be addictive except there's less chance of getting into a huge debt.

But hey, don't mean this as a criticism, I should have spend all those hours of UO on study myself so I would have made more of my career by now but I'm happy with my job anyways. At the end of the day it's about wether or not you are happy.

Sorry, but I just got bored quickly, running around for those crystals. I have one robe and I'm happy with that thanks.

Much prefer to play all the other areas of the game than focus on just this one area.

Don't keep the crystals. Turn in as many as you can. Every time they say there will be some reason to keep something for the future it always turns out to not be worth the lock downs. I can't remember the number of items they did this with that turned out to be worthless.

I plan on turning in all I have until Thursday or Friday and then start saving those collected afterwards for future use and helping guildmates that might need a couple to get a robe.

Turn them in for robes. That's what I would do. They will likely never offer Conjurer Garbs ever again (sadly). I wish they would add the entire Conjurer's line (Grimoire, Trinket, and Garb) to the Doom Gauntlet as random drops. They fit the theme, but I think the devs want these to be rare after the event so folks participate in the quest.

I have 9 robes so far across 3 shards and am trying to get 2 more before the event ends. My hand is killing me from chasing those sparklies... but must continue until the end...
