Hunting Grounds & Dungeons

Where is a good place to hunt (in Trammel) where there are other players around, and what is a good time?

Coming back to the game, I'm finding the world quite empty. No way I can handle the spawn of any dungeon by myself, and I have not seen any players about. I've been in Wrong, Destard, Fire, Demon Temple, Abyss and Doom so far with no luck.

I'm not looking to party up to go hunting. I just want to go someplace where at least others are taking on some spawn and I am not faced with 100% of it.

I'm bored.

Despise is one of the best dungeons for that. The 3rd level with the Ettins. I usually see at least one other player there, sometimes a few. Shame is close to that.

Skilling up requires MOBs in that skill range these days. The odds of getting a skill increase are reduced when MOBs are outside of your skill range. Ettins and Earth Ele's are best for characters in the 60-80 range, roughly speaking. That's why you'll find more players there.

But it's still slim pickings for finding other players active in UO these days. Most are established, and play less often. Or play to go after specific items that are higher skill areas.

It's a matter of timing and the UO player base is rather scattered, even on a populated shard like Great Lakes.

For example I only rarely see Destard empty; others claim it's empty constantly. I've actually almost never seen a lot of people in Fire Dungeon, Trammel so that part doesn't surprise me. In fact the last time I saw significant amounts of people in Fire Dungeon, Trammel, other than some kind of event being held there, was when Fire Steeds was introduced. And that was a long time ago. Sometimes you'll see people fighting demons on level 2.

If you just want to see other people, go to events or the Luna or Britain banks. If you want to hunt with other people, go into global chat and see what's going on, and ignore smack talkers being jerks (which you won't always see anyway). The other night I joined a spontaneous Doom run. I was only able to do 1 complete run before I had to log but it was fun. Sometimes there are spontaneous group hunts. The Ilshenar champ spawns are the most-popular target. (Events also usually, not always but usually, involve PvM of one kind or another, be they EM events or player events.)

If you just want to solo-hunt around people, it's a matter of time and place. If you're training up a character, which it sounds like you are, you may want to try Despise. That seems to be the place to hit after New Haven island. After you get worked up some there's the Abyss or the Underworld or overland Ter Mur.

Thanks for the good advice.

My characters are fairly trained, and I'm working on Stealth for a T-Hunter so he can do other things. Since he can't solo most chests, I figured to do some dungeon crawling.

My mother and I both play, but it is neither safe nor fun when no one else is in a dungeon and all of the spawn is hungry for flesh. :)
