There are 3 types of pets people use to call pre patch the name itself is miss leading because one of the pets was made with an exploit and the other one is most likly a myth

The 1st one is the stam buffed pet this pet will have more than 125 stamina unblessed
Was made with an exploit using curse or weaken when taming
they get higher hp and stamina and lower str
U was able to do this for a long time back then people use to call them curse tamed

The second one is the pet that suppose to jump screen all the time when telling it to guard or attack
This one i think is a myth because every tamer know sometimes all pets jumps screen
I have yet to see a pet that does it all the time so i dont think this one exist

The 3rd one is the real pre patch in my opinion these pets are most often weaker or odd in some way
Weaker because the devs desided to boost a pets abilitys or odd because they desided example ( a unicorn should not eat meat)
These pets are wery old

Sry for bad english it s not my main language

If they were tamed before the last patch then it is a pre-patched pet. To me this is the stupid way to advertise a pet. All my pets are pre-patched, LOL. All Dread Mares are very pre-patched. All Black Horses are pre-patched. If they have stats/skills that are different then the norm then just list them and quit calling them pre-patched. You want to be carefull buying a pre-patched(different) pet because some people are feeding them treats and calling them pre-patched.

To me a real pre-patched pet goes all the way back to the stone age, i.e. before pub16 and AOS. that means no cu's no GD's but old legacy pets as in nightmares, ww's, and dragons. All the other so called pre-patch pets are wannabes and not really pre-patch, this is just my personal opinion of course.

I stand to be corrected on this, but when I first played, the stats for pets were 1:1, that is if you trained any creature to 125 Strength, it would have 125 hit points, unless designed to have more. At some point, so the rumours I've heard claim, this was changed for small pets, so they had a smaller stat cap... however I've got a very old and very new cow in the stables, and they do seem to be training up to be very similar, so as I say I'm not sure if that's true or not. I do know however that I also have a 4x GM chicken (normal, not Battle or Greater) and rabbit with 125, 125, 120 stats!

However, what absolutely was true is the "Leaping About Pets"; when the game first went live, the spell list that casting pets could use included Teleport, and Dragons were especially famous for using it constantly, often to the frustration of it's owner when it got stuck somewhere useless! There were urban myths for months and years after the cast list was changed that some pets still had that ability, especially when net connections were much worse back then, so you'd see characters juddering all over due to lag. I think they also had Invisibility for a while after Teleport, which could also have seemed like they were "leaping" about. But from what I understand, it's simply not possible for anything that casts to you use either spell now, no matter when it was born, as neither is on the list...

As for genuinely rare pets, I've only ever seen one definite one; a solid purple hued Greater Dragon, which was sold on Chesapeake about a year ago.

I also believe Ancient Wyrm's were tamable for about a day, and then stabled to hide them from the deleting fingers of the GMs. I do not know if any still exist, but they are unlikely to be shown off if they do, in case they get reported. Which is a shame, because they are the only truly beautiful pet in the Enhanced Client...
