How to item drops work at EM Events?

I am wondering how the EM drops at events work nowadays. Last night I cast 2 Word of Death on the final boss doing slightly less than 1,000 damage and somehow ended up with the drop. I can't imagine being in the top attackers list with dozens of people there. So is just anyone eligible for a drop?

Can the same creature drop more than one item to multiple players or only one per?

Also, what is that weird ability that drains all your life, mana, and stamina? I assume has to do with the black clouds flying all over the place. This is the second event in a row that it happened so this seems like a common ability on the boss at events?

if you get looting rights you get a chance to get drop. it is not based on top attacker. all damage taken, damage done, and healing done count towards rights.
each EM asks for a particular number of drops for an event, higher population shards get higher amount, they range from 10-25. there is also something else that started last year where extra drops are given to "home shard players" which is awarded sorta by just attending and not xferring the character out and having those "points" erased. I have heard of at least 1 person getting 2 drops off the same boss, which would be getting a normal one and a bonus one due to the new extras, but ive never had it happen personally.
the swirly crap on the ground is one of the possible mechanics that can be put on bosses. it is an ability of Exodus. pretty much any ability from anything can be added to EM bosses to make them tougher or to make them last longer and not die right away. I kinda like the swirly things

I saw a funny thing thing at a event recently, the main boss was still yellow way off to the side while all the sub bosses were still being killed. One person with a dragon was at yellow main boss spam healing there dragon well it was taking damage from still yellow boss. I jumped in middle and tried to attack and take damage but couldnt. After a few seconds of me standing there there dragon died. It all seemed fishy to me but I have no idea what was going on to be honest. It just seemed like person casting heals on dragon was building up healing points.. Like I said this was all off to the side as well where nobody was.

they were possibly trying that, or the boss locked onto their dragon and they couldn't get it away and was just trying to keep it healed.

Was it even a boss? I dont remember a recent boss which was yellow before it was attackable

them being yellow 1st seems to happen pretty commonly. ATL had one on Thursday that was like that, it wasn't the guy that had a drop though, it was the one before the drop boss. it was tearing everyone up while everyone was fighting trees and stuff. Sonoma tends to have them pretty often but they sometimes also disappear and reappear when they go from yellow to red instead of just switching, so I dunno if that would reset the healing and damage taken assuming it was adding up to begin with

Yea, but if they dont have a drop it means nothing.

I thought it was the Boss, it was the last mob of the night and said some stuff before he turned red. I cant confirm it though, but Em did drop gate back to hall when it was killed
