Transfer tokens has worked for me for high price items. They hold a pretty steady value on most shards I think. Currently between 20 mil and 25 mil on average. Low was 17 mil and high was 29 mil.
Just negotiate a rate that each token is worth for your trade with the seller.

You can also use a respected 3rd party as a broker. Chose your broker wisely though. Each shard seems to have one or two that are very well trusted.

One of the things I especially like about UOForums is they have a Trusted Trader status, does stratics have something like that? Finding someone you can trust is one thing, but locating an experienced trader, who know the tricks and scams that might be tried to ensure a successful result, is quite another. I applaud their dedication and integrity.
If they are trustworthy, the easiest way to transfer is for them to setup a vendor and sell you a item for 125 million. Then they would transfer the house to you. If you don't know them or never heard of them. I wouldn't do this method.
Excellent question! I can't imagine having enough money to pay 125 Million for a house though.
I don't have any answers but will be watching this thread to see if anyone can come up with good "DO's" and "DO NOT''s" -- and WITHOUT TEACHING OTHERS ABOUT HOW EXPLOITS AND TRICKS ARE USED. Not sure how that is accomplished either.
I know how to place houses and often help others find locations available. I have never learned the best way to sell a house because I usually give houses away free.
Most players who need a house, are honest, and will pay without problems. Also you can buy a house without problems from trustworthy people. But finding trustworthy people is another problem.
TOO MANY PLAYERS go after FREE or CHEAP FOR RE-SELL. Some are trustworthy and others use exploits.
Their game is all about making money, and both real and game gp.
Some players started coming after me with sob stories about why I should give them a free house which makes me start questioning their motives
Earlier this year, a fellow paid me 6 Million for a KEEP in a SWAMP. I didn't have any gold so decided to sell the house.
He paid by SIX_One -Million GP-checks via the House-transfer window.
I COULD NOT SEE HOW MANY CHECKS WERE IN THE WINDOW BECAUSE THE CHECKS STACKED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER.
( I had warned him about buying the KEEP in the SWAMP but he was eager to have a KEEP so..
later, I used his money to pay for KEEP-placements during that flush of house decay earlier this year .. and gave him a much quieter, nicer location with a KEEP. )
I like the idea of using transfer tokens or other items of high value to use as trade.
- - but - - won't numerous tokens for trade stack up on top of each other thus concealing the number of items in a house-trade-window?
Don't all ITEMS for trade stack on top of each other in ALL other trade windows?
I know you can put items in a bag and have them show all the things in the bag before you approve of a trade or purchase but ... isn't there an exploit with a bag trick involved, used with that type of trade?
Also, as many know and have noticed, items stacking in top of vendor bags are owned by players using EC.
So I have a question:
Is the stacking problem in HOUSE TRADE WINDOWS related to both clients CC & EC or only to the EC?
About tokens - i really don't have so many tokens, it is most likely to get heavy loss if i try to buy them one by one and stock them for when i need them, and noone is gonna wait for me to buy them after we agree for the deal.
About uoforums trusted traders - i did little search and google top results are exactly top rated scammers at uoforums. So the problem is the same - unknown to me person with possible unconfirmed feedback.
I was thinking about calling GM and ask him for assistance, but i'm not sure if such request is not going to offend them

I believe in its infancy, in-game gold maxed at $30@100gp, now closer to $1@million, you can see where there was a very long period where a multimillion size sale just didn't happen. Even of lately, with New Magincia vendors, it was stated a blaze Cu for 500mil was simply "impossibly priced" by a developer. In other words, the mechanics for large sales aren't here yet. Right now, if you're wanting a 100% guarantee, i dare say it's not gonna happen. You can't necessarily get a 100% successful transaction from EA - (not that they would intentionally scam you, but you could certainly purchase a code that's already been used, or just plain doesn't work).

Does UOForums guarantee these Trusted Traders? I have a handful of stories about Trusted Traders... I have read of some scams that were years in the making.
Speaking for myself, not Stratics. I do not see Stratics ever "officially" endorsing any traders.
There are some few lists here in the trade forums. These are user generated. Stratics, to the best of my knowledge, does not endorse any traders.
Speaking for myself too .. I have encountered too many stories about players getting scammed and hacked, and met too many two faced characters to be able to trust completely.
This has made me very cautious in a number of ways. EG:
1. Long ago I realized it isn't good to be 'friended' to another player's house simply because if my accounts were to be hacked, the hackers could rob a friend's house and they might lose prescious items because of me.
2. Also it is so easy to get suspicious and start blaming friends for losses caused by my own foolish *mistakes, um, like -
- like accidentally not locking down chests and/or indiviual items which then vanish and when you can't find those missing items, it would be easy to start thinking someone else took them. - - which could never can happen to me since I often misplace or forget to lock down items and when they vanish, I always know I made a mistake and only have myself to blame.
3. For the same reasons as in 1 and 2, I do not wish to be made friends of other's homes. The shoe is on the other foot. I don't want to be blamed for things vanishing in another player's house when I am not responsible for them.
So back to this thread's topic: Buying items in this game for high prices is very hard.
To get a Castle, many veterans of the game, including myself have had a hard time even getting a small house or tower, let alone a Castle. But with the number of players that have left this game over the past few years, towers and Castles have been getting easier to come by without BUYing them.
After paying for and holding three accounts with one small house on each account, for years, in an area where possibly a Castle could one day be placed if other abodes near-by were to fall making room for a Castle, I was finally able to place my very first Castle after more than 11 years of being in UO. A year later, a Castle went into IDOC and I was able to place another castle on that spot. A friend gave me his Castle and left the game which in turn I gave to a friend who also had never had a Castle.
In doing so I was able to give another castle to a friend which a friend had given to me before leaving UO.
Patience and time. There should be tons of space coming up as there are bound to be many house decays over the next while.
I hope Thimotty and others who want to buy, don't get burnt by scammers. It's rough going no matter what you do.

Out of curosity, how did you put the worth on the house? I don't think I'd ever buy a house worth that much. There is just too much space these days to plop an 18x18 down and sometimes even a keep or two.
@smip, obviously i'm after a castle. I have a keep and 18x18 for both my accounts but i want castle on good location. And those are sometimes going more than 300 mil.

Im using brokers for these trades, if im Buying.
You can never be sure, but some people are less Likly to risk their forum, game rep for an amount less than a billion or more. Try seek them out. Less risk. Or go for token trade. Put some time in it to Get tokens, and YOU might end up spending less than 125m. I blame all typos/cap letters on iPad AUTOCORRECT.
