how necessary is it to gm fencing or even higher?

it says at 90, you get to have a selection of 2 attack maneuvers and it doesn't say anything about 100 or over. Does this mean it is unnecessary to level it past 90?

Also, what is a good point to stop anatomy and tactics?

That depends on the rest of your template.

But for any situation, you want as much fencing as you can fit. If you can fit 105, put 105. If you have a 120 scroll available, use it and put 120 fencing.

The rest can stop at lower numbers, the most common choices are 70 (can use one special), 90 (can use two specials) 100 (bonus for damage for tactics), or 120.

If you don't mind, maybe you can post what your template looks like and what your planning on doing with this char.

Normally I take all my weapon skills to 120. Depending on shard, you should be able to get a 120 fencing for around 3 mil, 115 for a lots less, and normally the 110 fencing scrolls are dropped on the ground. As far as tactics and anatomy, I would go for at least 90 tactics and if you have healing then at least 90 anatomy as well.

I tend to agree, it's if not mandatory it's pretty close. Go with a 110 0r 115 as cash allows, but always make 120 your primary skill's goal.

Inevitably unless you have a good crafter or other means of making money...you'll have to hunt. Most any monster that is worth a hoot for farming its goods you will want a descent skill in weapon. This usually entails having (fencing in this case) at 105 or better in order to have best survivability.

Most monsters that give good loot you will have a poor chance to hit at only 90, and hardly better at GM (100.0). That said, your hit chance calculation in combat is first determined by your weapon skill. The lower the weapon skill you have vs. the higher the defense the monster you're fighting has = you not hitting the monster a whole lot. Additionally, it is the first check done in PvP combat.

I have to say I see no reason not to take fencing to 110. If you are using +skill items and that works for you...so be it. 110 fencing is cheap though and you can farm quite a few mobs with 110 skill level on a weapon.

To put things into perspective, you can currently find a mythical scroll of fencing (max 115 fencing) for 50k or less on most shards. (3 mil for legendary)

Swords are obtainable for 100k or less (5 mil for legendary)

Archery scrolls are 75k or less (5 mil for legendary)

Mace fighting is lower than 10k on most shards (600k for legendary)

You can make 100k gold with less than an hour killing Troglodytes (use night's kiss for fencing, you won't even have to heal yourself if you have 70 physical resist). So there's no reason not to bring a weapon skill up to 115 at least.

Yeah pretty good point. So, 115 then if you're a broke joke (just kidding). I haven't kept up on prices. Just suggested 110 AT least since I see them just on the ground from time-to-time.
