Was just wondering cause with enough people at 120 imbuing its just a matter of time...
One way you can think about it is...Its gonna be tough to get some of those ingredients... real tough, I've tried and failed at getting some of the arcanic stones. When someone dies and say they are running some elite gear, everyone and there mother is going to be able to use it, thus not getting it returned in a sell back. So I dont think here on Siege *everyone* is going to be running uber gear...just a weapon or two designed for the template.Sure lots of peep's runnin around with bokuto's. But how long before everyone has one the is exactly the same as one in a different post? Thats not goin to be even that hard to make once alot more people have 120 imbuing. The ingredients are relatively easy to get and with ZERO chance of the weapon breaking when an imbue attempt is made, it's just a matter of time before everyone has exactly the same equipment. *sighs* I'll be at 120 imbueing Thursday night. By the weekend i'll have the needed ingredients to make exactly the same wep. *Boring* How long before all the mages have a ring or bracelot with +25 EP +15 DCI 3/1 casting and maybe +10 magery (or maybe +20 magery i havent checked yet)? It's just a matter of time. Sure it'll take time to get the ingredients after many failed attempts. But it's just a matter of time... What should of happened is the same thing that happens to Crafters. Imbuing should have a chance to break the item that is being imbued. Hell who knows, maybe they'll implement this in the near future once they realize the mistake they made. Get the imbued items while you can people...ya just never know LOL.
This. Why do you consider this a mistake? The only way to balance an item based system is to make the items readily available. Discuss...
THIS shard was never meant to be item based. This shard was never meant to have blessable items. What has this shard really become? A glorified trammy land, and thats it. I'll use faction items as an example from a previous poster. Faction items are char bound, big deal, kill someone and you cant use their items. So sell em back, whoopee. So you die and lose your items, you buy em back, whoopee. Endless cycle. It'll be the same with imbued items. I kill you, take your imbued items. Big deal, i've already got the same items. Sure, i can hoard everything, or sell it back, but again, whoopee. Lose your faction items, how hard or long does it really take to acquire silver to replace. NBD. Lose your imbued items, how long does it take to gather ingredients. NBD. People have just now started to get their imbuing skill high enough to make uber wep's. That took what, 2 weeks? How long before the entire shard is flooded with uber weps (once most everyone has trained up imbuing)? Believe me, i have prolly close to 200 relic frags already and will have absolutely np gathering other items to flood the entire shard with uber gear. Then what? Whoopee. Why do you consider this a mistake? The only way to balance an item based system is to make the items readily available. Discuss...
I don't think imbuing is the reason that the shard is under-populated.Yup, Kelmo, ya hit the nail on the head. It is what it is. And does anyone see this shard getting more and more flooded with people? Sure, it is what it is, and it ain't gettin any better than this *sighs*
I honestly hope you're right on this one.Call me an optimist... With better equipment, folks might experiment with a variety of templates. Not everyone is into the cookie cutter theory...
There will still be different weapons and templates... even more so know. My opinion.i have to admit i liked the look of UO better when different weps/armors were around and not so many people had the same gear
Asty or assieI dont get where you all say Siege/UO was never an item based shard/game. Isn't every game ITEM BASED?? YES, they are!!! When UO first came to be, we had ruin, power, vanq, silver, indestructible, fortified, teleport rings, I could go on...those were the sought after items. Now we have artifacts, crafted, Imbued items. Nothing has changed. Just items have gotten better. Now its gonna be a test to see who the best is (well not really).
Please explain to me how UO would be better without the addition of artifacts, crafted, imbued items...
I can understand that, but did Sir Morder not just say that Silver and the ingredients required to craft the leet items are easily obtainable with minimal effort? You shouldnt expect to be on someones level that puts more time into the game...period. You putting one hour a day into the game should not net you the same end game as someone who puts two hours a day into it. If you want the big toys, you gotta earn them. Not cry about it.Asty or assieuo is better with a even playing field but the thing is not everyone have the time to invest in the game to get these items and not everyone wanna be in factions to have the faction items. So its still a matter of the haves and havenots due to the time required to get the end game items. Take me for example..I only have time to stuff a couple of crafters in a dumpster (its like my crack) then I have to log out.

If everyone were the same, if everyone used the same gear, if everyone used the same tactics, that would be fine. The RNG would sort through it all! HehSir Morder is right...dont you guys realize that soon not only will everyone have the same weapon but they will also have the same skills cause people build templates around items. Everyone will be using the same tactics
*smiles*If everyone were the same, if everyone used the same gear, if everyone used the same tactics, that would be fine. The RNG would sort through it all! Heh
I have personally never used the template that everyone else was using, I have always played the template that was FUN for me, even though I know that if I used xxxx template I would be unstopable, what would be the point in playing if I weren't having fun?
What will seperate one cookie cutter player from the other, once everyone who is of the "Must win at all costs" persuasion are all wearing the same gear? Teamwork! Communication, cross healing, mana management, knowledge of game mechanics, and superior horse-back riding. No gear can touch ability.
Oh how quickly people forget...
They forget the LJers hitting for 50-60 on mages in leather armor...or worse yet, dexers with val spears parablowing a mage AND hitting for 50.
They forget about 4/6 casting mages, or the 4/6 chiv dexxers spamming DP and holy light.
Who could forget the word of death/yumi archers?
The new availability of items is a good thing. Now an average Joe can buy a great weapon for 1-2m instead of 10-20, and imbue some jewels with HCI, DCI, and whatever else so they can compete against the faction arty players. Really, not much is too unbalanced now..
Most factioners run the HOTL, those are going for what, 150k now? Mine costs about that to buy back. Fey leggings? No one uses them, they are now able to be found on vendors. You can toss DCI/HCI on jewels, and have the HCI from your uber weap now. Now, more than ever, a non faction player can run around in a sammy helm, HOTL, fey legs, a good weap, and some nice jewelry, and be rocking 45HCI/70DCI, HLD, and use the same barbed armor many faction players use.
Fair is fair.
I have honestly considered dropping factions. You just...don't need it anymore. Want to run the necro template?Would you stop posting things that make sense Speedy...These guys will never understand, they're trapped in 2001, 2002 era.
Agreed, it's just a shame we're in an item based system - I don't like item based combat. Why do you consider this a mistake? The only way to balance an item based system is to make the items readily available. Discuss...
That is inexcuseable. I can make a mil a week playing for less than an hour a day.Asty doesnt get it, no one is contesting that you guys are wrong in your caculations but what asty and a few others dont seem to realize is that not everyone can afford a few hundred thousand everytime they die.
Those who can afford it will be ganked by 2 to 5 people in GM armor and looted. The gankers will then have a nice suit ( without faction restrictions ) that they can wear at zero cost to them. Eventually, the rich will become poorer replacing their suits, and the poor will become richer via ganking.Asty doesnt get it, no one is contesting that you guys are wrong in your caculations but what asty and a few others dont seem to realize is that not everyone can afford a few hundred thousand everytime they die.
The imbued items will cancel each other out. 50% HLD and 50% HLA will cancel out the other imbued DCI and HCI, back to square one.If everyone is running good gear will skill and con speed become important again?
Well I have had chars that can farm gold pretty good but I grew tired of paying for multiple accounts so I only keep Cheapy active and his only way of earning gold was lockpicking and since I lost the soulstone I just really hate to start training it over again. That is inexcuseable. I can make a mil a week playing for less than an hour a day.
I will give those a try but to be honest I'm just not motivated to go to luna and get ganked by notos and lose suit after suit. You're already on top and I know cause I see you farming a lot and I never bother you..not cause I'm afraid cuz remember i have nothing to lose but because I mostly study how you do things in case I ever reactivate my other chars again. There has even been a time or two when I have thought maybe you fell asleepCheapy I completely understand what you mean by everyone cant afford to pay 200-500k per suit when they die. The fact still remains that people, if they put a little effort into it, can be wealthy very quickly on this shard.
There are so many ways you can make easy money. May take two accounts, if you have the spare RL money. Tamer can go out kill Hiryu's for leather (60 per), collect the gold and voila you've got 3,000 gold per kill. Pretty easy system. Kill demons, wisps or silver serpents for gold/silver. Again your looking at 3,000 gold per kill roughly. If your having trouble, join factions, run naked and use monster ignore. This shard is a million times easier to make gold than any prodo.
And then there is the way that i became wealthy rather fast. IDOC's and Lady Mels. Just depends on how you want to approach the game. Work and get wealthy, or pancake and wine about how you got nothing.
If you dont have much time/desire....Do quests. Those can net you a huge weapon once and a while. Three weapons i've got from the quests that are massive.I will give those a try but to be honest I'm just not motivated to go to luna and get ganked by notos and lose suit after suit. You're already on top and I know cause I see you farming a lot and I never bother you..not cause I'm afraid cuz remember i have nothing to lose but because I mostly study how you do things in case I ever reactivate my other chars again. There has even been a time or two when I have thought maybe you fell asleepand i still leave you be cuz i usually only stalk the board crap talkers and not people trying to make a living.
NEVER !Was just wondering cause with enough people at 120 imbuing its just a matter of time...
And so PvP skill will prevail....is that not the way it should be? I guarantee you if AEowyn picked up faction arties, and I used the same, I would still win. But I bet you if AEowyn hopped on a tamer, got some sweet new imbued luck gear, and I did the same, she would be far better at farming materials, arties, etc. The world turns. With 12 years experience playin this game, i've seen em come and i've seen em go. I've seen the endless cycle of changes this game has to offer. This is not a "change" this is called hitting the wall. I'll give it by spring or even summer (for those that are slow) next year, everyone left on this shard (talking to those that pvp) will have weapons, armor, and gear that is exactly the same as the next guy. Look out, that wall is pretty big.
The truth hurts.I just miss the days when a tribal spear could para a mage 3 hits in a row and you smiled and looted as they called you a no skill gimp![]()
