How Large, How Active, and How Engaged Is The Stratics Community?

My curiosity got the better of me tonight and I ended up spending a while counting up how many Stratics users have posted in the eight threads that have been created in the last week to discuss various aspects of the sale of Stratics.

Very nice list Tina.
The join dates for many are inaccurate as the forum had lost quite a bit of information, including accounts back in 2008. Some were recoverable. Some were not.

Just a random security advisory. The sale of a site is another reason to use different passwords for different sites. Certainly not insinuating even remotly that any of the potential bidders would do this, however logins stored since 2008 would be an aweful lot of logins to use in neferious ways.

Yes some just choose to avoid the drama. Some used to be more forum active as well. Some lost their accounts in the big change over and had to make new accounts and some of those just choose never to come back after that.

Hey, Freya -- and good morning!

I have to agree with Zuckuss and Riyana here -- we've just gotten started and we don't think it's time to give up yet. Four days of campaigning and we still have 2 weeks to go. PR blasts coming out soon to the larger gaming community, and a few background things in the works also.

Re: the bidding price, if we're analyzing...there was an original/early bidder who clearly entered an auto-bid. Recently one or two interested parties have been putting in smaller incremental bids...probably to see how high the auto-bidder was set to. So I wouldn't really read too much into that. (and yes, we also realize that the bidding nearer auction close is where we're really going to see what Stratics is "worth" to outsiders or investors.)

As for setting up a new site: this is certainly something that someone (even us) could do, and of course we've discussed the possibility as well. That being said -- there are a lot of people who believe the true value of Stratics is based on a three things: the brand & history, the established community, and last but absolutely not least: all the historical content that brought people to the site in the first place, and made it the "go to" site for UO information. I think the community would really, really hate to lose that, especially just now when we have a project in the works to port that content back over into the main "stratics.com" website.

So we don't think it's time to give up yet. In fact, now is the time for us to continue to focus on the campaign to give ourselves the best shot at ensuring that Stratics stays in the community.

For cookies, use 1/4 cup well blended silken tofu, 2 T cornstarch & 2 T water, or 1/4 cup pureed fruit for the egg.

I use oils which are a toughie to substitute but I've heard of a vegan margarine made by Earth Balance, think Walmarts carries it.

Interesting post and data collection by the OP.

I do think it's fair to say that the 8 posts regarding purchase/sale/auction of Stratics is only a small sub-sample of our community, or even UHall for that matter. I would guess that we have many many others who come here exclusively for the Trade and Rares forums that never participate here on UHall and vice-versa. There are certain people who only participate in the Profession/Template forums, or Rares market, so on and so forth. You can probably say this across all areas of this whole site.

I think that's one of the reasons it is very important that we keep Stratics around and don't simply keel over and give up. To have to setup all of this information again, risk losing existing discussions and so forth, would just be a blow to the community. I know that the Forums are different from our resource site, but the Forums are a big resource in and of itself. The information about price of rares, PVP templates that have been tried and were successful/failed, bugs on various aspects of the game or other unrelated Q&A are all contained here and could probably be located with a few tailored searches. This information is just as important as the "old Stratics" resource page. It represents the on-going, breathing and changing nature of Ultima Online and our community as a whole.

You know for years I've been playing one thing has remained constant... and that's the number of times someone gets in vent and the first thing from them is... "Hey Willa... what's with the patch?!" or something of that nature. Most of the people I play with just play the game. I swear they don't even read the splash screen... they certainly never read our own forums let alone the game notes, patch notes or Stratics. They just wait for me or someone else to tell them. But then I've always told people/friends that if there is anything you have questions about or whatever just ask... if I don't know it I'm sure to know someone who does, or I'm sure I can find out. So I guess I ask for it. But how many times I thought.... "Good grief does no one read the forums or the calendar?" But then after a while I sort of started to not read the calendar myself... and still ask.... "So is the EM event Guards or Spies?".... hehe. Getting more lazy in my elder years I guess.
