How do you regain good karma

I made a necro/mage and while doing it my karma is now bad. (I am at Evil) Is there a precise way to recover your karma and go from evil to good, w/o deleting the character. If so please inform me of the process.

Get a Demon Slayer and head to Ilshenar Spirtuality, and go kill Daemons.

Are some necro spells not dependent on bad karma though?

Hmmm...the necromancer forum has no mention of karma & damage relationship other than the target's karma that I could find. It mentions that wither does damage based on the target's karma (positive karma receives higher damage).

I always thought Spirit Speak was the necro's equivalent to eval int in damage increase for spells.

One of the special necro spell books, the Ossian Grimoire, (8th AE gift or from the Treasures of Tokuno event - can't remember which) specifically accelerates your naughty karma descent. I always thought it was more for the RP title than practical SDI advantages, though.

*edit*

From the play guide on uo.com:

"Karma is most useful for helping you roleplay interactions with other characters."

No mention of karma in any of the spell damage descriptions here either.

You're going to have a real hard time keeping a good title as an active Necromancer. You will gain Karma on kills but then most of your necro spells will cause you to loose Karma again. You do get a message about loosing Karma on certain spells so perhaps you can experiment with them and see if there are any that dont cause Karma loss. I've always assumed they all do but not really sure.

Also, dont use an Ossian Grimoire as that accelerates Karma Loss.

I'm also wondering if healing others and doing escort quests improves Karma as well as Compassion... anyone know?

Safe Travels, Sam

According to the necro FAQs on stratics forum, mana regen from shadow wisp is affected by karma (more negative = more mana). Couldnt find anything else other than that.

Before you can recover your karma I believe you'll need to visit a shrine and unlock it.

As said above you will need to unlock your karma at a shrine. BUT, if you are a necromage, you WANT negative karma. Dread Lord/Lady 4tw. It does affect spells just like chivalry affects paladin spells. I suggest locking your karma at a shrine and doing nasty things until your a Dread Lord/Lady.

Well, unless you're playing a royal interrogator with chivalry/necromancy ... karma gets a little muddled when you're asked to interrogate the dead

To be honest, I would just bite the bullet and embrace the dark side. Sure, its going to be a pain if you want to go to positive karma spawn places where they will attack you on sight, but you will learn to deal with that

Just a point of clarification: You don't need to visit a shrine to unlock your karma unless you locked it in the first place.

The OP didn't mention locking karma so I think it is just a matter or poking baddies to get positive karma. For me, liches, liche lords and miasma work best to recover kamra after working necro spells. Fast kills and good karma gains.

What Petra is referring to is involuntary karma locking, and it happens the first time you dip into the negative side.

"Involuntary Karma Lock - The first time you go negative in karma (<0), your karma will no longer be able to be raised. You will gain no more positive karma until you visit a shrine to be cleansed."

@Stigmatas: can you give some specific details on how negative karma gives a boost to necro? There seems to be no reference to it anywhere, and that would be helpful info...especially if you posted it in the necro forum as well to help future generations.

Huh... I just trained a necro/dexer and that didn't happen to me. My karma dropped and gained just like it should, so I wasn't aware that could happen.

I never did like the karma locking system when it was released!

Bah! I just scanned the playguide and I can't find a thing. So I guess it's just hearsay until a dev responds. I could have sworn though during the launch of AoS, that I heard/read that karma indeed affects duration/strength of some of the spells.

Besides the fact that you'll lose karma anytime you cast necro stuff; Might as well be a Dread Lord/Lady

I have a fellow necro bud that is pretty well versed in some game mechanics, so I'll ask him next chance I get.

It's also possible that it used to affect necro spells, but they changed it. As much as they change crap in this game, quite possible. I'll keep an eye out.
