How about, (str /disarm special move) ?

I would like some kinda code to be able to resist disarm special move. The higher your str is the harder it is to disarm you (because of strong grip)

I agree but it should be taken one step further. Strength and Dex should determine the % chance to disarm. A lethargic mage would not have the speed to reach for my weapon quick enough to knock it from my hands.

My friend does reenactments. He once told me the only way to be able to avoid being disarmed for sure is to be doublejointed in the wrist.

No. Bad idea. Archers are powerful enough.. If you're playing melee you probably already have enough ways to counter disarm.

Easy fix, make wrestle the only skill/weapon that can disarm...

I like it!!
Could have it so there is a 60 second cool down for the person, so they can't use disarm often. But I don't know, being able to disarm a mage can be sorta important since mages today rely on weapons so much. Just that it's lame when someone disarm chains in a dexxer fight hehe.

How does anyone agree with anything in this thread, except sarcastically?

Make wrestling the only skill that can disarm? Is this a joke?

I'm glad EA doesn't read anything that involves PVP in the title, or else I'd be seriously worried if you guys were the ones coming up with the ideas to "fix pvp"

LOL. Sorry but even there most recent skill Mysticism has bugs still. (Cleansing Winds healing through mortal strike). They haven't even said they've noticed it anywhere in ANY forum. Very doubtful they'll do anything on disarm now. People have posted other solutions for it before and it was ignored then.

Always fun to talk about what ifs though.

It kinda was a joke to some degree. I know that it would be a drastic change due to the mage weps that are very popular now.

I do know that i have some ideas that could improve pvp. I would go into my list, but there is really no point in it because it would just be a waste of finger movement.

IMO disarm is fine, just the added effect of 0% defense is idiotic. You should still maintain your defensive ability while disarmed. The only effects you should feel are being unable to deal damage and/or parry for the duration (yes i'm saying disarm should work for shields also.)

. You should still maintain your defensive ability while disarmed.
If that were the case Mages would have no need to arm a weapon, Then the disarm special would be less used. Mages should get their defensive ability froma mage book in hand rather than a weapon

Good luck.

Disarm has been a joke and a crutch for poor pvpers since it was introduced.

It was especially created to help mages that did not know how to pvp.
And we all know that anything that helps mages lasts forever.

Why is it that there is a mechanism ingame(disarm)that specifically renders a weapon useless(disarmed, and sitting in a backpack)but nothing else comes close to doing the same for the ability to cast spells? parablowing a mage was never even nearly as effective as a mage disarming a dexxer yet it was nerfed cuz mages whined lol.

No mysteries here.

The function of disarm has changed a lot since it was first introduced to the game. Back in the day it was fairly awesome because you could disarm-steal. Those were the days.

Right now, a human with 120 eval or 120 anat has 80 evade when disarmed. DCI probably needs some research, but that's 30% protection without considering DCI, HCI, HLD, or HLA. Of course, 30% doesn't cut it for PvP. Maybe good against slimes.

People use mage weapons because you can stack spell proc damage and you save 100 skill points. Spellbooks can't compete right now unless you're PvMing. Wrestling specials can't be pre-toggled, either, which makes it hard to use them. Only way to get people off of using mage weps would be to allow mages to pre-toggle wres specials again. I mean, there are DCI spellbooks out there, so it isn't about DCI. I like wres for PvM necro mages though.

Disarm [...] was especially created to help mages that did not know how to pvp.

Your rant is confusing, in a retro way. I mean, disarm is used just as often, if not more, against mages as it is against dexxers right now. Just that the only ones doing the disarming are dexxers, because there really aren't many pure mages left. I mean, do you still PvP with a 40 DI verite spear?

The random spear para was brutal, and even more dex monkey than it is today because you guys didn't even have to push a button. The disarm stun mage was gimp, I'll give you that, but the RNG para was just as gimp if not more gimp. But they nerfed stun mages too, so what's your point? lol when's the last time you saw a mage stun punch?

I can't believe I'm having a 2000 argument in 2011. Wow, guys, I found the Classic Shard. It's called UHall.

Goldberg's argument is incoherent and I think he's just mad cause he can't pvp on a mage? If that's not the case, I have no idea what he's getting at.

What I was getting it is quite simple:

Since the first day it was introduced Disarm has been a joke & has no valid place in pvp.

There is no pvp scenario where Disarm is needed. Why was it ever even introduced?

Dexxer vs Dexxer - why is Disarm needed? Who hasnt seen 2 Dexxers just spamming Disarm for an endless amount of time with nobody coming close to getting a kill?
Why would you introduce a move that renders both sides of the fight almost powerless?
Sure, there are other options such as necro/chiv/etc.. but bottom line is the Dexxer kills people with his weapon so Dexxer vs Dexxer is a joke when Disarm is used.

Dexxer vs Mage - what Mage is so bad that he/she cant fight a Dexxer that can actually deal real damage from a weapon? What a joke it was when a mage could just toggle the Disarm and blast away with spells & no special skills were needed. The Wrestling skill was already a Mage template style skill.
Yet the Dexxer had no special move that could have the same effect on the Mage. No mindlessly toggled special attached to a skill already in the template was available to the dexxer so that he could cause the Mage to be unable to cast a spell for the same amount of time as a weapon is Disarmed.

Dexxer vs Archer - this is the most special scenario as there are of course no Archery weapons that are able to be equipped while Disarming lol. Real great fun here.

Disarm has always been abused by the gimplate of the month and worse, always been used as a gank tool.

Whether or not it benefits a Dexxers these days to Disarm a Mage is irrelevant if you have the ability to look at the move in an unbiased way. Unfortunately most people dont

Sure they'd still have the need to wear a weapon.

Mage weapons are useful for the possible chance at and extra hit and and even less chance at the special abilities proc on that weapon when they do hit. And the extra 100+ skill you get for not having to invest in a alternate defensive ability. Which for this disarm should give the player no defense since they're not putting their extra skills in a true defensive skill.

Or you have the rare tank mage that can make use of a weapon.

Who do you see blocking hits with a book besides Jackie Chan or Jet Li? That's just silly.

I see where u r coming from but please don't try to use real scenarios in defense or explanation of mages using a weapon.

If you want to got that route lets ponder how it would ever be possible for a mage with something in one hand and little to no dexterity being able to disarm a weapon being held with both hands by a warrior with huge amounts of dexterity and strength.

Mages should get little to no bonus/properties from any type of weapon in hand unless they have serious skill points invested in warrior skills (at least 200)

When are the Devs gonna start creating -20 warrior weapons or spellbooks that allow Dexxers to buff up their warrior skills with jewels & be able to cast effective mage spells just by wearing the damn weapon or book?

I would love to be able to toggle to a spellbook with -20 fencing that allowed me to cast even 1 spell that is as effective as the Disarm move.
