Hoping to learn how to play the game again

Hello everyone,

I'm an old player of Ultima Online since 99 and I quit in 2003. I returned and left many times between then and now but I'd like to come back on a permanent basis. I've noticed the main reason I end up leaving is really because I don't know how to play the game anymore. When I first purchased this game it was a weird experience.

The moment I stepped foot in Haven I met someone who then showed me how to play for the next 4 years. Gave me a house, money, anything I needed and we ended up questing together for years. I was never really on my own, didnt understand the concept of questing, or what to do in the game, but I really enjoyed it.

Now I'd like to come back and learn. I have a tamer/mage and decent gear. Would just like to know how to keep myself going and entertained because I haven't been able to get this game off my mind for 11 years.

Can anyone help?

Welcome back. :)

UO has changed a lot, but mostly it is still a sandbox where you decide what you want to do and go do it. "Haven" has been destroyed and replaced by "New Haven" which is just west of the old city of Haven. New Haven is still a great place for new players (or returning veterans) to hang out and get advice, information, etc. Meeting folks in New Haven will most likely lead you to a guild that fits your playstyle (RP, PVM, PVP, Etc.) and things will grow from there. Feel free to ask questions here any time.

Welcome back to Atlantic and to UO. I wholeheartedly echo Tazar's suggestion that you get acquainted with a good guild. This will be the absolutely fastest way to re-acclimate yourself to UO. In addition to spending time in New Have, you can also see some guild listings here.

Thanks for all the great info. I was in UWF a couple of years ago so I will look into rejoining this guild, I remember it was great and I had fun questing at night.

And Hi Tazar, I was your neighbour as well a couple of years ago. I used to stop by and take a look at your multi house top floor designs.
