I thought I had read in a post somewhere about making a change so that healers also get credit on looting rights or something like that. Not sure if that was for just EM events or if I'm just imagining that I read it because I haven't had my coffee yet, but I imagine that if you did a search on healers you might be able to find the posts.

Yeah, I saw the thing on the EM events, so wonder if that will change to other loot drops. Also, I was wondering if it was hinting at anything other than just that.

Without trying to seem too old but, this is why information should not come from tweets. There is not enough characters to explain things. Cryptic messages are not fun nor exciting. Just post some damn details on what's going on. This game is going to the crapper fast...

That would be my guess. EM event item drops will go to the lead damager and the lead healer.

They keep using something besides a carrot for UO. Go to any other forum and their is no advert for Ultima. Maybe for a few weeks every few years with new game content release. I play UO and am on a UO forum page. Rather see the latest backpack art winner pic then some other games latest release. Just a measure of what games are getting more attention.

Bad advertising. Ask the Devs at the very top of the forum will reach a year gap for last input before they realize it still being there is in bad taste.

Fun meter for UO. Less activity in forums without a drop in subs = doing something right ingame. Calibration of the meter would be an icon for those on the forums with at least one active account.

As many champs/peerless/gauntlet jaunts as I've attended, I've never seen anyone dedicated to healing other folks. Maybe this'll change.

That sounds kind of cool. There used to be monks or healers that would travel in our dungeons that would just heal us. They had no other purpose they would tell us. It was very much a role playing aspect to the game that would be interesting if they made a system for them. I used to give them some gp because sometimes they would just hang out in Covetuous healing and chatting about whatever. I've never seen that kind of role playing since maybe 12 years ago.

They did it because healing was what they wanted to do and enjoyed it. They may not really need a system for the gratification, but I'm interested to hear more about this and see the future release.

this is a good thing if it's going to work on everything and not only EM events, maybe we will see again the red cross guild :D

The cross healing happens when the group realizes noone in the group can be a hero vs the boss. Just need to teach those that are poisoned or redline it helps to run toward the ones healing. And if the healer is a discord bard scraping the boss off you on the healer makes the healer cast that needed heal on themself. And if they die to your tactic. When that discord goes, yes you die in two hits with no heal inbetween.

Problem is players are able to work alone to much and lack team skills. Beating on a golem really hones those combat skills. In the old days for a sure fire win it took a team effort. Today only the PVP realm knows that and it is frowned upon.

There needs to be a new quest line the requires a Party effort. And all characters in the party to be active in the effort. A five party quest has five drop items that needs all present in fight to get. No need for a miner or fisher to be in the party boosting the party/quest level. Could be a quest boss summon that shows up in a spawn area like Harry does. Only the party members get the quest item drops so outside help is just that, looting rights in a surprise group effort. Make it a vampire hunter quest boss. If it kills any player and is a level 5 player/quest it get 20% life back. There is a long history of vampire types to cover 10 levels. If there is some new healer earning right coming in the future better yet for party quest. If their trying to promote a group effort healing someone elses pet should be a 10% reward. It is about getting more p(l)ayers action in UO for the latest greatest pixels.

We used to do this as a guild. One person was dedicated to healing and resurrecting, and we shared all of the loot as a guild. But that was way back in 1998-2000 period.

Wish I could get folks to do that it seems like a great way to do things... but times do change I guess.

I think it's a little different nowadays. In a dungeon setting, it's easy to divide gold among hunt participants. However, in the instances that I mentioned (champs, peerless, and gauntlet), there is a chance for an artifact and/or scroll drop. Someone dedicated solely to healing is not likely to receive these items.

Back in the old days we went out as a group and returned as a group with a few desirables. We knew where to get some dice to decide back then to fairly sort the goddies. With all the solo play there is the lost trust a group builds to know noone is holding out. Large enough group to rinse and repete till something new came up or all got what they wanted.

years ago. back in the dark ages or UO, I was the healer for a small guild i belonged to. Loved it..... After a hunt, we went back to the guildhouse and spread all the drops on the floor. We then rolled the dice to determine order of choosing, so each member of the party had an opportunity to choose.

It worked well, we played and hunted together and established a trust in our guild mates not to take advantage and encouraged working as a team. Oh, for such innocence and trust now. I am fortunate in that I totally trust my guildmates, and it generally worked out that if there were specific drops that one of us needed we would trade around until most ended up with what they wanted/needed.

We did not depend on the greater UO computer god to determine who got the goodies, we depended on each other.... it worked well.

I did that as well. Works good. Unless you aren't in a guild or don't want to be and just want to go out and have some fun at something other than a mongbat(assuming you don't have a sampire.) This kind of thing is why UO is always going to be behind. People think because their 5-10 friends did something without the help of game mechanics they are not needed and asking for them is somehow watering down the game. Rubbish..

I'm not sure, but if I read the Publication 74 notes correctly, healers MAY get some of the credit for loot rights, and MAY have a chance for artifacts. But I may have misread that.

Aye. That's why I think we're more likely to see dedicated healers.

Dedicated healers already exist! Although up till now it often (outside of alliance guilds) has seemed more of a :wall: task than anything.

The Jabethian Alliance (-JA-, R**D, AoS, and ^SS^ guilds) on Legends has had them for some time. The guilds in the alliance mostly work close together to get what the individuals need, rather than "hogging' things to them self. They also often invite non-allied characters to join in and normally share with them.
