I just want to say that I've been having an enormous amount of fun with this expansion. The ships are absolutely gorgeous, the implementation is very smooth, and it has breathed new life into the game. Not only that, but in this age where everyone teleports, we now are once again traversing the land (erm sea) on quests.

Well done, devs. This was a shipshape job.

Yep, we are having fun with the new booster also. Love the ships, new fish, new adventures etc. Just looking forward to some of the bugs to get worked out, or at least some replies from the devs. Granted I'm sure they are all pretty busy, but a "chime in" would be nice. rolleyes:

Well I just wanted to say, in amongst all the complaints, I bought the codes and upgraded my accounts without incident. I'm not big on high seas content, so it will probably before I really check it out, but I'm lovin' the extra storage space, and looking forward to getting some fish pies when the prices and the supply stabilizes.

I haven't messed around with cannons yet but I'm loving the fishing quests.

It's been a long, long time since I sailed "every where". I had forgotten how much more adventurous things seemed when I got around by foot, hoof or sail before I fell in with the wrong crowd and started practicing magic

I also feel that fishermen are now truly merchants making their living on the high seas. There is now a purpose to their madness in addition to their method


And so I'd like to hoist a mug to the Devs and say "Well done" and "Thanks for all the Fish"

If I remember right, High Seas does not give SA expansion -- but I'm not sure if you have to have SA installed to use High Seas.

Thanks G.V.P. I have my fisherman/cartographer on an account that isn't upgraded to SA. Was hoping to use the expansion. My other account has SA installed but no fisherman on it. So am hoping someone will know if you can use the HIGH SEAS expansion without having SA installed on an account. I may have to find the answer the expensive way. rolleyes:

This question I can answer -- yes. And sometimes, I prefer old commands over new method, hehe.

I suspect, since the Island where the new boats are purchased, is due South of Moonglow, and not in Ter Mur, we don't need to have SA to play the HIGH SEAS. So we both will probably buy the new expansion. Thanks Again G.v.P. But then I begin wondering if the ships can sail in waters found in Ter Mur. Hmm.. Are there any lakes or oceans in SA?

Ok I am out of here before I dream up more questions. The fun is finding the answers while exploring. hehe

The boats are amazing and I have a great time fishing so far. I will test out the rest when all guild members got their booster.
I have been fishing like mad hoping for a 105 ps to atleast start training and it seems almost everyone say the same. My hand hurts badly from lobster fishing so ill take a break for some days.
Apart from that I think they got everything right and much better than I was expecting. Great job!:bowdown:

No, you don't. I activated a trial account and upgraded with the High Seas code to make my ship captains. They can't get to Ter Mur, but they can do battle with pirates. =)

By the way, I love the expansion and so does my alliance. We've been sailing around having a blast with it.

1) BUGS

Personnally I didn't buy it, but it s sad that instead of fixing long going bugs, this expansion just put back old ones... aka controlling 2 summoned daemons at once etc... I will say it again, any serious company fixes bugs before releasing an expansion, particularly when they have magic incomes coming every month in the form of subscriptions.

2) SCATTERED ACTION

Seas used to be like half of the landmass. Completely unused. So that expansion suddenly brought in game like twice as much land. Resulting in UO looking like a solo game even more than before (tbh I m not really concerned about that, as far as I have a few friends to play with if I want to, but I know people are concerned about that).

3) Translated quotes from the French forums.

the french : badly designed, badly developed, but as far as they ate our 14 bucks I guess they are happy.

Alaster The Mad : When you are in a boat, player movement is still not smooth at all. Cannons are extremely expensive... It may take forever to find an npc boat. The command "start tracking" is very inaccurate. Repairs are insanely expensive as well. Fighting the pirates is fun but I really hate that gold sink aspect.

Ankh Magister : Very little content added. New artifacts are horrible, 2 bosses including one that is a joke. Piratery has to be avoided unless you have a jackofall trades craftsman. There is a new mysticism bug. I thought that expansion would be great but I feel like having been sod.....d. That content is all about losing our times travelling on the sea. 15$ for new boats and 2 bosses including one completely stupid and very long to do with that... And since I dont care about fishing there is really nothing for me in that. And having to pay once for EVERY account just to be able to go into boats with friends...

Myrielle: In the past they sold us 20% storage increase for 20$ so 15 is an improvement. Besides that, it doesnt deserve to be called a booster... EA is making lazy money. No more birthday gifts, no new rewards, unless you buy them for real money on an online website... I am bored to be taken for a milk cow and letting my account open hoping for an hypothetic good add on. Does anyone know if it is still possible to sell accounts for real money?

Many people did excited posts about the booster, but noone posted anything positive since they got to try it....

It is not perfect, there are issues. I am hopeful that they will be resolved quickly.

But this is an appreciation thread. I didn't see a single positive thing in what you said. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and encouraged to share it, but I would ask* folks not to use this thread as yet another forum to complain about what is not satisfactory. If you do not think it was a worthwhile job (and you may well not), why are you posting here? I doubt you are going to change the minds of those of us who ARE happy.

honestly i quit the game!, just didnt tell anyone about it yet!, houses were about to go into idoc stage and i couldnt care less lol, there was nothing left to keep me interested enough to log in more then 10 mins a week, but i tried the booster during the legends return deal, and im officially hooked again full time..just glad i re activated my accounts in time to save my stuff hahaha

I just looked for the old thread on UOCartographer. I had to go back 14 pages to find it, and almost everything between was about the High Seas booster and Pirates and new boats!

That's a pretty good indication that it's a success!

Ok,

(1) Orc Ship - Now what? Try to get 10 more Orc ships? Fight pirates over and over or NPC merchants? Do they have a rare drop?

(2) Fish Pies - 300 Sec buffs

(3) The Corgul

(4) Scalis

(5) Lvl 7 Treasure map

(6) PVP on the boat? lol, there is nobody in felucca. The only pvp is if u come across somebody's boat and they aren't logged on.

$15? I don't appreciate paying this much for this poor of a booster. If anything, should have been free for my monthly payment. Did we have some other content the past 6 months?

What a joke.

Bottom line: I would have been happy just fishing for the new rare types in their respective location. Maybe 1 hr a day trying to get max stone for each, using them for decor and running player events. Not 40+ lesser fish and a quest for power scrolls that makes me feel like i'm in a WOW grind. That said, its behind me, maybe they will fix how much time is needed to do all the quests required for that 120 PS. But 70 quests at roughly 35 hrs and no PS is a bit steep for me at this stage of my life. That was during an easy work week and now would have maybe 10 hrs a week max to fish and do other things in UO + other games I play. Sucks getting old and having other responsibilities, I'll leave these quests to the young. I don't mind fishing till 120, but doing all these quests first to get the scrolls is just too much for my old ass. (Could just buy the scrolls too, but who knows how available they will become, not everyone is gonna stick with this in its current state)

This game is incredibly rich.
This is the "sideways" growth that, in my opinion, is far better than constant power inflation that turns into a downwards spiral.

I have enjoyed this booster quite a bit. So far all I have done is fishing quests and pirate hunting.

Pirate hunting is a blast. It is a whole new spin on group combat. It is a nice break from the norm "xheal/spam special" style of combat that goes with just about every boss mob we fight. A lot of time is spent sailing to and from pirates. I like this, it is much more casual. My group all have orc ships now and we have even sold a few. Nice to kick back and shoot the breeze while sailing to the emporium to claim our reward.
