Let it be known that the I^A guild is holding a contest for the actual birth day & time, then the length of labor, for Guild member Patty Pickaxe. Following is the key information needed to participate.

Important info ! Actual baby due date is 10/31/05

Challenge 1 = Time and date of actual birth

Challenge 2 = Total time of Labor

Challenge 1 prize = Evil Decor token

Challenge 2 prize = 1 million gold pieces

Obviously Patty is not allowed to participate as she could possibly influence the length of delivery ( I don't care if I'm fully dialated I need to hold out for 5 more minutes, I need an Evil Decor altar! ) or Enigma ( Dammit Patty push harder I only have 30 seconds left! )

Place a message in this forum with date and time on 1 line and hours of labor on another line in same message.
If baby is born before the 25th of October Challange 1 is void unless someone actually had the right info. Challange 2 will still be in effect.

Prizes to be paid out to the player with the closest choice. Meaning this could go down to the minute. All times will be considered EST.

Important info ! Entries only accepted in this thread until 10/25/05.

I think that's a fair question.....yes it is!
So far, i think I like Maleeka's guess the best!

I have a question of my own...to all the mother's out there...what is the starting point of my labor? From the first contraction (on the day that actually results in my going to the hospital? or From first regular contractions?

As for contractions, if those are too far apart yet, sometimes chances are..they may not "the" right ones nor the ones that matter or the..hospital can probably just send ya back home. Meh come back to us when this is really ..happening or some lame answer. *it can happen ya can feel em and they be 8 hrs apart or something* too soon *unless ya have great insurance that will cover ya ..longer * haha

*raises hand*

QUESTION ... ????

How ye gonna handle guesses that end up possibly correct on the night we move the clocks BACK .. ??

Oct. 30 FALL BACK move our clocks back one hour ! That would possibly effect all guesses on ...sat. evening ..till we move the clocks back..into sunday morning !

Other wise I will go for guessing that the wee albeit confused pumpkin, will wish to be here BEFORE halloween,

thus OCT . 30 .. at 2am more precisely EXACTLY when we are to legally turn the clocks back one hour. *that may be 2:05am* confusing baby to it's time of birth even date of birth..thus it will be a complicated yet cute goober born on the *FALL BACK* of changing our clocks back every fall.

labor time 6 hrs. 55 mins..*but at the time of changing the clock* we loose that hour..sooooooooooooo it also can be 5 hrs. 55 mins

So help us out here.. on the logistics of the SAT/SUN birth Oct.29/30 ie.when the clock changes back ! :0

It starts either when your water breaks, or when the contractions reeeeally start annoying you and won't go away. :)

If it helps any, I never had a labor over 4 hours...including my firstborn. YAY!

*smacks Dor* haha I HAVE HAD LABOR PAINS FROM HELL *with the second delivery of our 3rd child*

The twins were a piece of cake..doc kept askin me *are you having contractions ?? * Since the water broke I had to go in there. I kept saying ..NO not feeling any contractions..at all. They had me on machines due to it being two to be born....doc says 'machines say you are contracting..let me test this'...he went to measure etc diaphram..he bout lost his hand ..contraction nearly broke his hand.. he goes 'YOU NOT FEELIN THIS.. ?? ' I said 'NOOO some bad back pains is all. '

I was not nor have I ever had anything ..induced nor drugs ..pure natural. *cuz back then some jerks were kidnapping new borns out of hospitals in the 70's so I was GONNA stay awake and no drugs for all my deliveries. Any np with TWO births at once..barely felt it all. ..all natural. Son was supposed to be born breach due to twin sis being in the correct position for birthing. He literally kicked her out..then summersalted and got born head first like she.. but 3 mins later. Twins were 6 and 7 healthy pounds born 3 mins apart.

BUT Heather 3 yrs later was 23.5 HOURS OF HELL !!! She was 9 healthy pounds.(makes mental notation..this was the LAST child I swore I would ever ..deliver) haha and she was.

Great question QueenZen!

Let's do it this way for clarity! Time will be considered Eastern Standard Time, NOT Eastern Daylight Time. A flimsy reason behind that decision is Daylight Savings is not a world wide event.

Again for clarity and simplicity we'll use the breaking of the water as a start time for labor .

Be sure to write the time down Patty.
BTW, I'm negotiating with Enigma now for webcast rights from Iantown Hospital. He mentioned a Pendant of the Magi and some sort of headgear.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What the contraction feels like as just told to me by my wife: The contractions felt like a menstral cramp that got more and more intense then it would hit a "peak" and gradually die down.
Also(she did a butt-load of reading before the baby was born) she said only 15% of womens water breaks on its own(that sounded low but who am i to argue?)Some women have a gush , others have a trickle when theirs breaks. I know this may not have answered your question here but as she read the post she said it was something you may wanna know.
One thing that was interesting though, while she was sitting in her room in the hospital she was hooked up to some kind of monitor that was reading her and the babys signs and the nurse was saying"oh your having a contraction" and my wife didnt even feel it so you may not even know heh.
BTW, we had our baby on the 20th of September of this year(the pic is in the RL section of the Siege boards), so alot of stuff is fresh in both of our minds, if you have some questions icq me at 48215693 and you can speak with me our my wife about anything free of charge... maybe.

Thanks for the input. Well the reality is this, every mother can tell you exactly how long they were in labor. There is no one I would trust more than to get us the right information and that will be Patty. Bottom line.

I have four friends who had children in the last year and all of them had to have their water broken for them. When that happens, it's pretty late in the labor process so Im not sure if I want to use that. So, I'll try to time it from my first REGULAR contractions that eventually lead to going to the hospital and STAYING at the hospital.

Thanks wavace for the offer!!

Sometimes. Basically it depends on the time length of the DVD he's watching.

I'm figuring he/she is watching the LOTR series.

Yeh, I think it's better, as Patty said, to start timing from the first contraction she feels that eventually leads to her having the baby. False contractions won't count of course, and you can't really time it from the water breaking since that doesnt happen sometimes until right near the end.

My first baby took over 15 hours of labor and like QZ I went all natural. It wasn't for babynapping reasons but I just couldn't imagine after being so careful all 9 months with what I ate and my health and vitamins....waiting till the end and then filling the kid full of drugs!
lol

OK so here is my official guess:
November 8th
11:56 pm
14 hrs. 48min. of labor

I wish you, dad and baby all the best ! Gosh this is SO exciting!!!
