This is entirely false and irrelevant. Bottom line, yes it's guard protected.
But Yes, You can find players who will see you are out of NPC sight and gamble that they can kill you before you type guards. Thieves may also steal anything cursed or uninsured you're carrying but it's unlikely you will see thieves in a remote area like delucia.
