I'm considering returning to the game, however I won't be in a rush if I've missed the current story arc. Have I?

I've read through UOGuide.com and aside from the next stages having already begun, I can't see anything about previous ones being unavailable?

Its still going on. There is a bit to catch up on but its by no means finished and there is still time to get in on the action.
