Has self defense changed?

I used to be able to walk into some monsters and my char would target the closest one and fight it, then the next and so on...

Now she just stands there like an idiot!!! Minor monsters attack her and I have to drag each health bar from them and attack each monster individually... SUCKS BIG!

Any ideas? Is this due to the new changes? Did I get some setting wrong?
