I started playing UO right after the Second Age was released. I played until right after the Asian expansion pack.

I've been gone oh... 6 or 7 years and I just did a 14 day trial to look around.

More than what has changed, I am shockingly overwhelmed at what hasn't changed!

People are still losing boats. Health bars still don't update properly, server lines still mess with you, and after 7 years there is still no significant upgrade to the game engine.

Really? You've had all these years and added tons of content but you can't fix anything?

Man I tell you, I love the High Seas ships, especially with being such a pirate wench, myself. But this total lack of progress just kills my enthusiasm.

have you tried the Enhanced client? I use that and my health bars update fine not to mention the macros you can make!

yes I tried the *cough* enhanced client and it still looks like some god threw up a rainbow all over sosaria.

The paper dolls are better, but everything else is just ick... And why, dear god, is there LAG on a 2d client? Really? I play WoW and CoH just fine and THIS lags on me?

Sorry, I'm just dissappointed. I loved UO and I'm just sad that nothing has improved since I left.

Not to highjack But. The EC client doesn't run on your average 500-700 dollar department store special computer. Plus it still has lots of bugs of it's own. So it's still like the OP stated. What the hell devs it's been how long and still buggy?

What much can you expect with a severely outdated client code?

i dont lag in old client, but sure do now in EC.

Only pass 6 months have i started to lag in EC, and its mainly around some people or certain areas in Luna.

But the ground still looks blurry to me when i run..

While I'm aware that the EC does look like someone puked a rainbow...

I wouldn't totally knock it until you've tried using it with Pinco's UI and a good skin... many folk like the Copper skin with Pinco's or they use Third Dawn... I prefer Decor's myself... but try using a skin before you totally bash the client.

Pinco's UI is bringing UO closer and closer to what the game should be.

Personally I think the DEV's should look at a bunch of the changes Pinco has implemented to the UI and make them part of the client itself.

That and I think there should be more options for color schemes given by UO, because your right it does look HORRIBLE by itself.


But that's just my opinion... and it's your opinion of the game and I must say I don't disagree with you. There are 100's of bugs that are STILL here even after 7 or 8 years or more... but it wouldn't be UO without them...

Though I have mentioned this very thing to the DEV's many times about how returning players become annoyed by finding the same old bugs again and again.
