Halloweenie Quest

Okay, I wish they would have just did this quest like all the others. I've tried and tried, but I visit Jasper, and say the right things, ( like everyone else that shows up ), but when I get to the wife I get the message "You can't think of a reason why you would want to do that." Some kind of quest confirmation would be good. All in all a frustrating start this week....

go to jasper and talk to him and I believe you say assist to him!

I can't find any of the npc's in the dungeons. I thought I did, mistargeted and now I have repeat everything to get an essence again.

Not sure this is worth it.

Go to Jasper at the court of truth (In Yew) say "assist" then say "Eliza" after that go to the Minoc tinker and say "letter" to Eliza (she gives you a letter) take the letter to Tomas and drop it on him, and say "gypsies". Go to Alana and say "note" then pick up the five note pieces scattered around camp (some are hard to find press <Ctrl>+<Shift> to make it easier). When you have all five, combine them and read the note. then go to the upper level of the Minoc mine to the skull and say "Loki", drop the note on Tiny and go in the door and read the book. double click the cauldron.

Go out and go to the hag drop the cauldron flask on her and say cure and any other Capitalized word. she eventually tells you to read the book on her desk (it's green) double click the flask beside it. Then your best bet is to go to Deceit dungeon (because the moongrass grows in that dungeon) and kill anything that moves and "use" the moongrass on it. you will eventually get 4 residues from it. combine these and then double click the product. depending on what creatures you killed to get the residue you will become some kind of a monster.

As a monster you will see these glowing red orbs, just walk on them and collect them (takes five to fill the soul flask) when its full go to the hags lab and use the flask in your pack and target her alchemists table. you get either a red, yellow, or blue crystal. red, take it to Tomas to get a Halloween costume (1st one takes 1 after that 5), blue are used to heal the "changed" NPC's (Carl, Jared, Leto ......) the yellow is to summon the Harbinger

Sorry if this is too spastic (lol) i just got off work and am VERY tired if i missed anything let me know also i just wrote down what you have to say, not all that you can say to the NPC's

I wish you would get some kind of confirmation that you are "activated" to do the quest. So many people are doing it, you don't know if you are the one receiving the response or not!

Same as you Ivory, Eliza isn't dropping the letter.

i had trouble at first as well. keep saying it especially if others are there.
u may have to bounce back and forth between yew and the tinker a few times.

I've gotten that far, but have spent almost a half hour looking for the fifth piece of the torn up note.

Found it, with help. If you have played the test shard and Origin....they are not in the same spots.

I am having the same problem, but i have been thru it all once already so im thinking its cause i did it already, lame i wanna costume!

I seem to be having the same issue. Said the right things, got the wife to drop the note, then went to see the gypsy. Finding only three pieces of parchment outside, and none in tents (even looking in the chests), whenever I double click on them, I get told "You can't think of a reason why you would want to do that."

I repeated the quest up to this point, but this time, the wife didn't drop the note, but thought since I had done this part, I may not get it again. Did everything else, went back to the gypsy camp, and again, double clicking on the pieces of parchment (again only finding three outside the tents, none inside the tents using ctrl/shift) I still get the message "You can't think of a reason why you would want to do that."

This is a little irritating. Guess I'll try it again, when all the "bugs" are worked out........ and Im trying seriously not to turn this into a rant....

They are all there 1 in camp on ground two in trees above canp

Okay, I finally got the letter, and was able to complete the quest. If you are having trouble keep trying, I waited until I was the only one there and did what onthefifty said to do. A couple of pieces of the torn up note are hard to find, but someone will help you, or you can just follow someone around. Remember to use Ctrl shift to pull up the item tags. Makes it easier to find all the pieces of the note.

After that it gets a bit easier. Once you have done the quest once, to do it more times all you have to do is go back to the hag, and get a new soul harvester,and start collecting the residue. No need to start from the beginning.

In fact if you are quick, once you turn into the monster you should be able to fill about three harvesters, i.e once the one you have is full go to the hag's place change the harvester into the crystal, and grab a new one, and back at it! Your monster form lasts ten minutes, and if you got good runes marked then you might even do it faster. Collecting the residue to turn into the essence takes time so make the best use of your monster form. Now the glowing red spheres seem to spawn in the same place, but I haven't timed them, and I've only been working the quest in Deceit, because the Moongrass grows in many places there.

Unless you have one of those cool ethereal mounts might as well leave your ride in a safe place. Can't ride as a monster. Also, you can collect more than four residues at a time. I had an extra and it lasted long enough until I needed it again. If you are having trouble finding the glowing red spheres, just KEEP MOVING! I'm sure there's more I could say, but I've done the quest close to thirty times now, and I'm tired.

No I don't know where the guys are that you heal. I'll figure that out tomorrow.

All in all, I ended up with 12 blue crystals, 1 gold or yellow? crystal, 3 costumes, had an artie drop ( Dragon's End ), got two scarecrows, 2 ruined tapestries, 4 black cat statues, and some gold. I didn't bother to loot much aside from Halloween stuff. Was in a hurry... all the quest items are timed.
Once the initial problem was solved the quest was fun.

Have you done the quest once already? Once you get the letter from Eliza, you have to see Tomas, and give him the letter. Ask him about the gypsies, ( just say gypsies ), and then go talk to Alana in the gypsy camp. Then you search for the notes. It has to be done in that order....

If you have done the quest once already, then just do what I mentioned in my last post.

I think the quest gets a bit persnickity if a lot of people are talking the NPCs.

The trick when talking to the NPC's in the quest is to repeat the words that have a capital letter where they shouldn't, like in the middle of a sentence. That did the job for me. And if you use journal, you can just run through those words one by one

i was struggling for a while when trying to repeat the quest, eventually i realised you can skip the first few bits and go straight to the hag and dbl click the soul harvestr and begin over again. thought it worth a mention as it had me baffled for a while
