I played UO for quite awhile back in the day. I think I quit sometime shortly after the "The Second Age" was released. I'm thinking about coming back and after reading a lot of the posts here am interested in seeing all the changes that have taken place since my leave of absence. I see there have been many more expansions since the old days, will I have to purchase all of these separately? I did enjoy quite a bit of PvP in those days and was part of the guild Guardians of Britannia (G*B). From some of my searches I can see that there is still a guild G*B but have not seen the name on any of the guild forums. In those days my main characters were Mercury (My good character) Sega ( my red character). I also played a lot with a second account which the main character was Vortex.
I am thinking that this week I will start my new account up and hopefully be in-game soon, just wanted to stop by and say Hi.

You have two real options. If you did not sell your old account, and if you have any of your old account information like the account name, password, associated e-mail address, and billing credit card number you can probably reopen your old account and find characters there waiting for you along with any items in their banks or backpacks. You would probably need any two of the above pieces of information to get it done. Call Customer Service at 1(866) 543-5435 if you want to try that route. If you get lucky and find it, you will only need reactivate it, then upgrade it with the most recent (Stygian Abyss) expansion to get all of the game content (except for two housing tile sets that were a promotional item).

The other option is to simply open a new account with a Stygian Abyss new account code and start fresh.

The old characters will be way outdated, but some skills will be in place and might provide a springboard into catching up. Also, you may have a few veteran reward picks waiting for you there and maybe a valuable rare item or two tucked away in a bank-box.

Welcome back either way!

Thanks, I did sell my account so I will be starting fresh. I was just at Uo.com doing a character search for my old character names and noticed that the Mercury I found has his skills listed as Elder: Tactics, Elder... what is the Elder?

None of the other characters that were in my account come up on the search, almost all of my characters were mulitple time grandmasters in their fields. But I am glad that the other names don't come up as I want to re-use the names again. If there is already another Mercury I can still use the name correct?

For 34 of the 58 skills, Grandmaster is no longer the peak of skill training. Special "Powerscrolls" allow you to train beyond 100 to 110 (Elder) and 120 (Legendary).

Any yes, there is no restriction on like-names so you can reuse the name.
