I have this information, but can't get to it at the moment. If no one has answered in a few hours, I'll post what I have.

Question for you, Connor. Don't you have a female tamer character you've been working on? If she's dressed in a monochromatic color scheme achieved through the liberal use of Tokuno dyes and with a cu sidhe to match, can I tell you she's hoity toity?

:p

713 Str/1000 Hp (HP can be higher though it's some bug to do with bless)
125 Dex/125 Stam
675 Int/675 Mana

85/90/55/60/75

130.5 Wrestle, 126 Tactics, 126 Resist, 126 Mage, 100 Anat/Med/Eval

Don't know the minimums though I've seen HP in the 500's so at a guess half of the max.

I do have a female tamer, but she's not dressed like that and hasn't ridden her Cu (which is rose colored if I remember right) in quite some time. She's using her Nightmare as a mount atm and has been for months. :lick:

Not me either, heh. My favorite cu is a color I wouldn't be caught dead wearing intentionally. Maybe if I got dressed in an unfamiliar closet... in the DARK... after drinking heavily...

Yep, these are the post-tame/trained-up maximums and the resist maximums I have in my pets spreadsheet too.

The key pre-tame stat and skill maximums are as follows:

Hitpoints: 2000
Strength: 1426
Wrestling: 145
Tactics, Resist, Magery: 140

Great! That's exactly what I, and I'm sure Righteous, needed. Looks like part of tomorrow will be spent searching for a new pet. :)

Haha...good to hear that.

It sounds like you're planning to try to get a greater dragon. If you want some company, my peace tamer on Pacific's pretty decent with her barding skills. Would be happy to help by keeping the beastie you pick sedated while your tamer sweet talks it. Just give me a shout in ICQ if you want some help.

There may be more up to date info, but as I recall this was within a week of the release of the beasts into the game.

IF I mean add, Wrestling, tactic and Resist Spell can be train back up to -10% of the pre-tamer skill. IE, 126.5 Wrest will have 113.9 max skill and same for magery, it will lose 10%. The max resist I see so far was 351.

The stats posted are pretty much it... a tip for determining final skills after taming is to multiply by 1.25.

FOr example... post tamed wrestling is 100

100*1.25=125

Your drag will have 125 wrestling.

This works for Wrestling, Tactics, and Resist Spell.

The best dragon ever tamed was posted on old tamer forum... the guy freaked out and when it was done he got a beer. I would like to see those stats again, it was amazing. That is my goal for a dragon. To get stats similar to those.

resists are the most important, mine has 524 hp but almost perfect resists and can tank more then others, it's like it has 2000 hits while others have 1000.

Wrestle, Tactics, and Resist Spell will train over 100 even if it dips below...

FOr an example; post taming skill of 90 for those skills will train to...

90*1.25 = 112.5

Final skill would be 112.5

Post tame skill of 96 for those three skills lead to a 120.

Magery skill is stuck at whatever it tames at.

The remaining skills (Eval, med, anat) train to 100.

Some genius in the tamer forum figured out the 1.25 factor.

The maximums I have recorded for a greater dragon after taming are:

HP's 1000
Mana 675
Str 700

With resists:

phys fire cold pois energy --- Total

85 90 55 60 75 --- 365

My GD 'Gothic' has:

HP's 846
Mana 562
Str 642

phys fire cold pois energy --- Total
85 84 55 59 75 --- 358

His magery is over 117 tamed

Ahh I see what you are saying now. Sadly I dont remember what his stats were at when i tamed him. Over 90 I think for wrestling anyway.

If I could get him to 110 wrestling he would be one of the best draggies i've seen on siege.

Thank you all for your insight and assistance. Now I just gotta go out and find the perfect greater dragon. I did some preliminary scouting last night and noticed that the greater dragons in Destard are considerably better than what I found in Illish champion spawn area. Any ideas on a good place to find a good greater dragon to tame or just keep killing them until a decent one spawns for taming. Anybody know what the minimum tame amount is to use one?

First off take it to the Painted Cave and that will raise all of its skills but magic resist. For magic resist I took mine to the Lady of the Snow,Runebeetles,Onis,WW's lower level of Despise to fight Ancients,Deamons Shadow Dragons and other PVPers. Not sure if it still works but if you are un-guilded cast away on it with debuff spells and of course if you can get it discorded that will raise the skills faster

I tamed one without peace with some help. Me and Guildmate beat the tar out of it first so the fire breathe wouldn't hurt and so would slow down. Then guildmate focused on healing me as I tamed. Sure I still managed to die a couple times but walked away with the dragon in tow by the end of it.

I generally Solo Tame Great Wyrms without beatdown, peace or paras. Just lead taming. Only time i die is when i get unlucky with a combo of their's or more spawn gets on me.

Best way to gain Resist on a pet now, is to go to New Haven, tell it to attack a Spectral Spellbinder, then immediately tell it to follow you. With the way pet commands now work, if it's not in guard mode and is told to follow after attacking, it won't attack whatever hits him. Can easily max out Resist on a pet in a very short time by gathering 12+ Spectral Spellbinder's on them. If the pet is tough enough to easily sit there and take melee hits from Spellbinder's just allow the Spellbinder's to surround it and cast on it, vet every now and then. For pet's that are too fragile to survive being surrounded by Spellbinder's, keep the pet out of melee range of them but within spell range by having the pet follow you around while you maintain a several tile distance from the Spectral Spellbinders.

Having Spectral Spellbinder's cast on a pet while it's on a boat and spawn is on shore is illegal, and can get you banned. The way i just explained is completely legal, just takes a little more effort in that you need to walk around a bit or vet some.

Hi,
I am sure someone has mentioned it before but if not:
it is VERY easy to tame g. dragons using the honor virtue (on yourself, not on the dragon rolleyes:).
I usually just need one try at legendary taming but i have enough time for at least 2 full cycles should the first fail (maybe even a 3rd - did not need one yet). I have to add that I am 4 points into 3rd lvl of honor (think thats as far as you can get without having at least 50 bushido on your char).
I dont know if honor lasts less long on lower levels but if you honor the dragons you don´t want before killing them (pretty easy with a well trained Cu) you should build up honor really fast.

Well, this is a rather cowardly way of taming them. But I thought I´d mention it for the people who are failing to get one.

Now my question: I have been looking for a good greater dragon for quite some time now and finally found this (4.1 on the Pet Power Calc.)
stats and skills after taming

HP 932
Str: 627
Dex/Stam: 44
Int/Mana:620

resists:
Phys: 83
Fire: 76
Cold: 53
Poison: 59
Energy: 75

Skills:
wrestling: 94,6
Tact: 95,6
Resist: 86,2
Magery: 116,9
Eval, 49,4

tbh, first I did not even want to tame it because of 2 reasons:
Resists are almost perfect exept for fire but then I thought since it is the highest resist anyway it wont make a huge difference.
The real reason was Dex. It had only 89 Dex before taming and now it has 44.

Question: what will Dex train up to? Only pretamed lvl (=89)? Or will it train up to 125 (as with mares, they always seem to train up to 125, no matter what they started with)?

I was rather surprised when I played around with the Calculator cause the dragon had 4,1 no matter what Dex I entered (125 gave the same value as 44). Does this mean it doesnt take it into account because it will train up to 125 anyway?
Because if it will only train up to 89 then I think this dragon should not get such good marks, because it will hit physically very slowly compared to a 125 Dex dragon. But since I never used a g. dragon this might not be important cause his magic attacks are the real weapon? If someone could give me feedback on this I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Robinson of Europa

Greater Dragons?? i've been out of game for about a year now, with plans to return very soon.. i have 3 tamer characters with full stables..

so now i have a couple questions:

are my pets in the stables all toast now or can i expect them to be fully trained as i left them?

is greater dragon a new thing? i mean, before i left the game we had dragons red or brown, drakes red or brown, and white wyrms, pure and not.. is there now a class among dragons?? like lesser and greater hiryu?

Your old useless pets should still have all their useless skills.... now the dragons....

Greater Dragon is basically the new dragon. It says "a greater dragon" and that means it kicks butt and is not wimpy like "a dragon." The two look the same and besides the name and the huge difference in stats resists and skills, there is no difference between a dragon and a greater dragon. Greater dragon takes 5 slots, so that is another difference. They spawn in the same places. Greater dragon basically stinks to fight but when tamed it is the best item in the game today.

And Now.... THE REST OF THE STORY!
Tamed Greater Dragons basically replace UO. They are better than any player that ever played UO.

By that I mean, they have 8 times the Health, 5 or 6 times the intelligence, and about an even stamina. There resists are better than most players and Phys and Fire are unattainable by mere players.

Ahh yes the skills. Well they have computer AI so that means they can cast 5 spells in about 2 seconds. Did I mention that four of the skills can go above 120? These facts make them better in combat than any player too.

I basically just drop my dragon off in Doom and recall back to a nice magazine while he drops arties in my pack as I read. DF doesn't even try anymore when he sees my dragon. He just up and quits or has a heart attack.

:(

So standard dragons still spawn? Used to enjoy hunting them in Destard, plenty of loot, scales, leather etc. These new ones just sound like a reason not to hunt there anymore.

Hiya Az -Yes, in Destard now are greater Dragons alongside regular dragons, drakes, Wyverns, and the rest like normal.

For the tamer coming back -make some stable room -these things take up 5 control slots so you need to be able to have a free stable slot for them.
